Check Out Al Salopek’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Al Salopek.

Hi Al, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Hi! We are Al and Sierra – beekeepers and
founders of Bee10Coffee At Bee10Coffee, we are dedicated to creating a delicious Beaten Coffee Paste using pure raw honey and our own blend of concentrated coffee. The owners, Al and Sierra, are a beekeeping duo in Florida who are dedicated to their bees and creating wholesome, natural, and delicious honey products. They source honey and ingredients from their own and personally trusted beekeepers who are committed to responsible and ethical beekeeping practices. The vision for our company, to take locally grown honey and combine it with our own blend of concentrated coffee to form a two-ingredient all-natural product with no preservatives or processed sugars, has been a journey of a lifetime.  We have been involved with Beekeeping for decades.

Al the Bee Guy, known throughout the state of Florida, was President of the Palm Beach County Beekeepers Association for 4 years and Vice President of the Florida State Beekeepers Association for 2 years. Al still dedicates the bulk of his time to save the bees through live bee removal and relocation, educating the public as he goes.

Sierra fell in love with bees in 2014 when Al gave Sierra her first bee hive.  Sierra now maintains hundreds of colonies for Sierra’s Bees, Country Clubs, and private clients all over the tri-county area (Palm Beach, Martin, and Broward counties).

Our USDA, kosher-certified facility is located on our farm in rural Palm Beach County, where we live with our kids (Sierra’s 3 – and Al’s 2), dairy goats, chickens, turkeys, pigs, dogs, and of course, our hives – hundreds of them.  We consider ourselves stewards of the land on this 12.6 acres of native Florida, pristine, quiet the property we call home. We have created a state-of-the-art facility that allows us to work on the farm, creating local honey products shipped to you from our farm to your table. Please take a look around and let us know what you think. We are very proud of our endeavor, and we hope you will agree that our Bee10Coffee paste allows you to make an absolutely delicious cup of coffee.

Beaten Coffee is an Indian home-style coffee beverage.

Beaten Coffee, Whipped Coffee, Dalgona Coffee, Cuban Coffee, Bee10Coffee

All involve beating coffee and sugar together with a spoon to aerate and form a light brown, fluffy paste. This paste is used to make a cup of coffee by adding hot water or hot milk, the amount of hot water or hot milk determines the strength and sweetness of the coffee. The beating process removes the bitterness while bringing out the full-body flavor of the coffee to achieve a bold, smooth and creamy cup of coffee.

Whipped or Dalgona Coffee originated in Busan, South Korea, and is made using Beaten Coffee Paste. A small amount of water is added to the paste and whipped using a battery-powered cream frothier to form a thick whipped cream-like coffee foam. This coffee foam is then placed on top of a glass of iced almond or oat milk to create an artful iced coffee drink.

Cuban Coffee is the Cuban version of Espresso. Made by beating one spoonful of espresso with sugar to form a paste, then adding the remaining espresso to the aerated coffee paste to form a sweetened shot of strong coffee.

Is a pre-made beaten coffee paste that is made with honey instead of processed sugar. We blend our honey with the perfect blend of Bold Arabica coffee and Columbian coffee. The mixing and aeration of the paste is done for you; To make the perfect cup of smooth, bold coffee, take one large tablespoonful of Bee10Coffee paste and add it to a mug of hot water or hot milk! That’s the perfect cup of coffee.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As beekeepers, we are faced with numerous challenges. Beekeeping is farming, long days working outside, caring for the bees, preparing equipment and fixing equipment, medication of bees and feeding, then hoping for nature to provide the perfect conditions for the plants that our bees need for their survival and to provide us with a plentiful harvest of honey. If the stars align, we then must harvest extract and prepare the honey to be bottled and packaged, ready for sale. There is never enough time or money to keep everything moving forward, but the passion for doing what we do and the pleasures of being able to work with the bees and nature make it all worth struggles.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am dedicated to preserving an insect and an industry, bees, and beekeeping. Both of which are severely in decline. And with my newest product, Bee10Coffee paste, we can continue to make progress through educational programs, research, and processes. Bee10Coffee the idea originated from the way coffee is made in India called Beaten coffee where concentrated coffee is beaten with sugar to form a paste, and that paste is used to make a cup of coffee. Instead of processed sugars to make the paste, I create the paste out of two simple ingredients honey and concentrated coffee.

Bee is for the honey

10 10% of profits go to save the honey bee, and the coffee is to enjoy

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
