Check Out Kay Predovich’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kay Predovich.

Hi Kay, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey guys! Kay and Maui from @mauiedward are here! We are Canadians just loving life and enjoying the Florida sun — not to mention avoiding snow and winter like the plague!

As expected, once Maui was born, I started sharing photos of him almost daily on my personal Instagram account. It wasn’t long before I realized that my account was only about Maui, and not that stylish, artistic, confident, and sophisticated person I ‘used to be’ before giving birth. That person was slowly disappearing before my very eyes! I needed to figure out a balance between wanting to share hundreds of photos of Maui and paying tribute to the ‘old me’. The ‘cool’ me. The ‘fun’ me, before all these kid responsibilities and their associated lingo. Also, I’ve never said the words “poop” and “explosion” in the same sentence this many times in my life.

I started this Instagram account as a way to continue to share photos of Maui with my family and friends, but still, free up my personal account so I can be that new stylish, artistic, confident, and sophisticated mom that I am now, Initially I was just sharing photos of Maui’s daily adventures and activities we did together on the new account. A few people had reached out and asked for advice on what type of activities they could do with their children. It was fun to engage with them and share my insights with these people I didn’t know. I realized that I wanted to reach out to more accounts and help them with child-related topics. Changed up a few things on the page, and the rest is history!

Our account currently focuses on our lifestyle, play-based learning, travel, and sensory activities. I’m hoping to branch out and start up a blog one day. There is only so much information you can convey on an Instagram post. Follow us at @mauiedward to learn, laugh, and support our journey xx

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This road definitely has had some potholes, but also has those super fun bumps — you know those ones where you play rock, paper, scissors to see who gets to sit in the back of the bus during school trips? And then when the bus goes over them you just about hit the top of the bus with your head? Yeah, those ones.

It’s been tough trying to figure out the Instagram Algorithm to reach more accounts with my content. One day you reach a couple of thousand accounts and the next you reach a couple hundred. It’s so confusing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am currently a full-time, stay-at-home mom. Initially, I didn’t even want to have a child because I thought that it would severely affect my career trajectory. After I had Maui, I made the decision to be a stay-at-home mom. I want to involve as much as I can in those early years. The first five years of a child’s life are absolutely monumental in their life development. I’m thankful to be able to stay at home with Maui but also blessed that I can experience so much with him.

What matters most to you?
My son, Maui.

As for the why you’ll only truly understand it when you become a parent for the first time.
