Check Out Monica Franco’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Franco.

Hi Monica, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello! my name is Monica. I am the owner of LaMoon beauty agency, and I have had the pleasure to work with Andrea Bocelli, Maluma, Disney, the Super Bowl half-hour halftime show, and big agencies/companies such as Bacardi, Corona, and many important companies.

Life is a roller coaster full of emotions and events for me and my makeup career is no exception, for the past 11 years it has been a relationship that has been through many ups and downs it was not always a form of life and income, so I did it as a hobby.

When I came to the USA at the age of 14 from Colombia I started from zero and left my house at the age of 17. Had 3 jobs while attending High School. I attended college for Interior Design, but something was missing, it just was not what I wanted for myself. In 2008 I started Beauty School in NYC, but my aunt was diagnosed with cancer, and I left school and 2 jobs to help take care of her. Life got harder, and couldn’t afford to finish. A couple of years later, when I went back to school, I started to work at NYC fashion shows and magazines. The Dominican Republic fashion week and others, all for free to get my name out there and gain experience. My best story will always be when a friend from Miami told me there was a music video with no budget. If I wanted to do it. And I said YES!!! Got it done; it was my first music video; I stayed and helped pick up cables and all the set-up, chairs, etc. the producer loved me… he recommended me for a job. Ended up being that, he was in the music industry for a long time and had worked with big artists like T pain, Pitbull, Jlo, and others. My first paid job was with MTV Masters of Music. From a free job, I was able to accomplish and learn so much that now I have worked with Pitbull, Maluma, Grubhub, Goya Bacardi, Corona, USSA, Universal Orlando, NFL player Gronk, I am the beauty Director for Iconos Music Awards, and had the pleasure of being the makeup artist for Andrea Bocelli, his son and his team for his sold-out concert in Miami, Jay Cortez, Jefferson Cossio, pipe Peláez, fashion shows, features in magazines, music videos, and many other renowned companies, and artist.

You never know what life will bring you and what yours will turn out like with such great opportunities.

I had the fortune to work with other industry artists and companies like Shannon, Bella, destiny, Loftis, and others. Who helped me grow as a person and business and had amazing productions. With Disney, Nike, USA Olympics, super bowl halftime show, Disney plus, USA player Alex Morgan, And Mallory Pugh, Disney cruises, weddings, and events.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
You will always be the only obstacle!!! If you work hard for what you want, you will get there!!! Of course, there are challenges on the way.

* Instagram is a challenge for me. Unfortunately, people go by how many followers you have, not what you’ve accomplished, so to be able to gain trust without having a million followers it’s been challenging. It’s even more challenging because, during different seasons of the year, it’s slow, so I don’t gain a lot of followers, but my goal is to always have the best outlook and Always 5 steps ahead!!

* To take time for me, for my family, and my social life is not easy to not give 10000% to your company and remember you still have a personal life.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Love my job. I get to meet amazing people, coworkers, artists, and celebrities; I get to see behind the scenes everything you see on TV. I get to be a Disney world at 3 am with the castle lit up and nobody to block the view, sounds, and songs. (Magical ) I get to be creative and live my dreams while having fun and getting paid. This is my dream job, to travel and create an empire while doing what you are passionate about! Having my schedule and flexibility and being backed up by an amazing team of artists.
