Community Highlights: Meet Adriana Frye Garcia of Latin Passion Dance Academy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adriana Frye Garcia.

Hi Adriana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born and raised in Kissimmee, FL and graduated from UCF with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology. My parents put me in dance classes starting at the age of five and I never stopped! I trained for many years in Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop. I started taking Salsa lessons specifically at the age of 14 and fell in love with the style! I later became a professional Salsa dancer, performer and choreographer specializing in the instruction of Youth students in our community. In January of 2020, I was able to make my dream of directing my own dance studio become a reality! I truly feel passionate about dancing and being able to help kids (and adults) enjoy the beautiful art of dance.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The pandemic was definitely a huge obstacle that I faced in my first year of managing a business. I am truly grateful for the love and support of my business partners, my husband, my family, my students and their amazing parents. Without them, this journey would not have been possible. We were able to overcome that challenge and start 2021 on the right path!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Latin Passion Dance Academy?
Our dance studio caters to the youth and adults of Orlando that want to learn how to dance Salsa & Bachata. We strive to create a positive and fun environment for our students! Dance should be a break from the normal stresses of life and we hope to be that escape even if it’s only 1 hour of your day! Aside from Latin dance, we also offer Hip Hop, Contemporary & Heels dance classes. We also offer private lessons and choreography services for Weddings & Quinceañeras.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Honestly, the biggest risk I’ve taken was to quit my 9-5 job (guaranteed income) to open a new business that had the potential to either succeed or fail. I knew I was passionate about this decision, but I do admit that at times I wondered if it was too big of a risk. I learned that in order to take risks, I could not please everyone and I had to be okay with that. I knew that mistakes would be and will be made along the way and I simply have to learn from them.
