Community Highlights: Meet Anastasia Santana of The Midnight Collective

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anastasia Santana.

Hi Anastasia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I believe covid forced many people to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. It was January of 2021 that I finally decided to take the leap into making music a full-time career. I began my journey as an intern, and within 4 months, I was offered full-time positions with multiple Orlando recording studios. Simply put, I arrived to where I am today by putting in the work. As an autodidact audio engineer, I had to outwork those with college degrees. As a female audio engineer, my differences motivated me to impact the Orlando community.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been a smooth road. At times, my body forced me to rest, whereas my mind was still in the mix. I learned the hard way that if you choose not to rest, your body will choose a day for you. Furthermore, as a self-taught engineer, I was already at a disadvantage compared to others in my field. I did not have a book to reference, teachers to converse with, or courses available to me, so everything I learned was based on my own effort.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The Midnight Collective (TMC) is company that provides resources to artists in order to enhance their creative process. We specialize in audio engineering, marketing, and artist development. What differentiates us from others is the simple fact that our work ethic is unmatched. My partner and I started TMC in March of 2022; since then, we have amassed 50 members on our mobile app, hosted a sold-out event, and secured a partnership with Studio 18. TMC offers an annual membership for $300. Memberships include exclusive mixing prices, discounted marketing materials, 3 free mixes and masters, 3 free general admission tickets to TMC events, and more! Check out to learn more.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice for those just starting out is to face adversity with pride. Hard times make you stronger. What you give in this game is what you receive, so make sure you put your 100%. Something I wish I knew when I started is that social capital is one of the most valuable assets in this game. Surrounding yourself with different people and truly staying connected to the music scene in your community is the bridge to that next level.
