Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn Study.
Hi Kaitlyn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started South Street & Co. in 2015 after working for a local dermatologist. In the two and a half years that I was there, I helped them double in size and I wanted to do this for other small businesses. I started working mornings, nights, and weekends to build up my clientele. I worked out of the second bedroom in my apartment, then was ready to hire someone a few months later and found an amazing gem off of South & Summerlin in Downtown Orlando.
Now, we’re a team of nine and we’re fully remote! We specialize in helping small to medium businesses grow their reach online through website design, SEO, social media, blogging, email marketing, and coaching.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would like to say ‘yes’ but it’s never a 100% smooth road. In the beginning, I struggled with finding the right people for the team, making sure that there was a balance between the work and the team, and learning how to say no to clients who weren’t an ideal fit.
But mentors and coaches helped me get to where I am. I had an amazing support group around me!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about South Street & Co.?
We specialize in helping small to medium businesses grow their reach online through websites, social media, SEO, blogging, email marketing, and coaching.
We primarily help service-based companies who want to reach a local clientele – local to wherever they are – that’s the beauty of a remote company (and Zoom)!
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I’ve had a ton of mentors and coaches along the way. Most of them I still turn to today. The SBDC was a huge help in the beginning, and I’ve also been able to turn to agency owners in Orlando to ask for help from them. My biggest piece of advice is never discount your competition because you can learn so much from them, and you may figure out that they’re not competition at all.
The people who have worked at the company have also helped us get to where we are today. I wouldn’t be here without all of their help.
