Community Highlights: Meet Meredith Kasheta of Meeting Meredith Creative

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meredith Kasheta.

Meredith, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my business on the side while I was working for a consulting firm during the day. I had been doing things for friends and family forever and my sister-in-law (who happens to be an amazing website designer) suggested I start a website. She literally created one for me over a weekend and that was it. I started growing my client base and before long, I was working to 2 a.m. every night to keep up. It was incredible but also scary because I was getting to the point where I had to choose whether or not to take the leap and become a full-time business owner. It was always a dream of mine but when it was real, right there in front of me, I had those thoughts of, “am I crazy?” Today, Meeting Meredith Creative (MMC) is me and a team of designers and writers that help businesses use website design, copy, and strategy to grow. And I couldn’t be happier!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been one of the least smooth roads I’ve ever taken! I can laugh about the bumps now but phew, they definitely challenge your determination. My biggest struggle was making no money in the beginning. Talk about feeling like I had made a terrible mistake! I left a secure job making great money to find myself sitting in my living room trying to navigate all the new expenses I was responsible for, the lack of organization, and my mindset that was wondering if I had the right stuff. It was tough. What I didn’t realize at the time was that those quiet months were exactly what I needed. They gave me the time to write a standard contract, set-up a CRM system, implement a billing system, etc. Without that time to structure my business properly, I would never have been able to manage all the clients that did come a couple of months later.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Meeting Meredith Creative (MMC) is built for business owners. Most of our clients are busy running their company, and they don’t have the time or experience to create, assess or maintain their brand. They come to us when they realize that their online experience is outdated or not converting. We also work with new business owners that need help bringing their brand to life. It can be overwhelming to distill all your thoughts and ideas into a clear business mission. So we work through a process that makes it simple, then use that foundation to build an identity with copy and design. For new and existing businesses, our focus is on building authentic brands. We believe that the experience a customer has online should match the experience they have when they call or visit the business. Often, companies have one team that puts up a website, another person managing social media, and someone else running the physical business. As a result, the customer’s experience can start to look and feel different with each interaction – which breaks trust. We look at the company holistically because that’s how customers look at it. What are your values, how do you talk, what makes you unique? When we can uncover those attributes, we can begin creating that online experience that matches who you truly are and create a consistent experience for customers (which they LOVE by the way)!

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
The E Myth is a fantastic book that helped me think strategically about building MMC. I highly recommend it. I’m also loving Atomic Habits. As for podcasts, I listen to Dave Ramsey and Tony Robbins way too much and I am getting so much value from Elite Achievement with Kristin Burke. She is a dear friend of mine who has been so instrumental in helping me grow MMC, and her goal achievement tips are game-changers.
