Conversations with Rebekah Noel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebekah Noel.

Hi Rebekah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Since I was a little girl, I was fascinated by moments that pass us by. I wanted desperately to stop those moments and live them forever. Photography was the closest I could get to that. My mother always documented time as we were growing up. I think my need to freeze time came from this. My original career plan did not pan out, so when I realized I could do my passion as my career, it was a game-changer. Starting out, I was photographing families. As I moved forward, I found joy in capturing people’s big life moments as well as the small ones. This is how I moved in the direction of photographing weddings.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I was not always going to be a photographer. Originally, I was on the road to become a teacher. After hitting the same roadblock for the third time, one of my all-time favorite professors, Professor Hensler, sat me down and asked me what I loved to do in life other than teaching. My number one answer was photography. She asked “why,” and I went into detail of why I loved it so much. After hearing my response, she offered me another choice other than teaching. She directed me towards the Daytona State photography program and it change my life forever. What I thought was a crashing halt in my life actually led me to doing what I love as my career.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in couples and weddings. I also have years of experience photographing families. My goal during every session other than capturing these people being authentic is to make them feel comfortable. I do this by directing them more with prompts than strictly posing. I will also be your biggest fan and hype person while photographing you!
