Conversations with Amy Gendron, AP

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Gendron, AP.

Hi Amy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was working as a personal trainer and I started experiencing neck pain. When pharmaceuticals and time didn’t heal me, I desperately turned to acupuncture. Not only did an acupuncturist resolve my neck pain but other ailments, allergies, PMS and menstrual cramps. I was curious how this gentle, relaxing therapy could resolve so many issues without negative side effects. I began reading books on natural medicine and after some time, decided to pursue a degree (Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine).

This field fueled a love affair with learning- it’s been almost 15 years and I still can’t get enough! I’ve maximized the scope of practice to incorporate homeopathy, fertility and aesthetics into my practice.

In 2020 I circled back to my personal training roots with a certification from the Chek Institute. The holistic approach to exercise addresses posture and performance, which enriches the lifestyle coaching piece of Chinese Medicine. I am learning still and loving what I do. I could study my entire life and only scratch the surface of this ancient medicine.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The work behind the scenes is the biggest challenge for me. I don’t like sitting at a computer or dealing with numbers. I put it off as long as I could, but it’s hard to grow to your potential while working within another business construct. Ultimately I decided amidst a pandemic that it was time to open a brick and mortar business. This medicine is needed and I wanted to reach as many as I could.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I try to be a living example of my work. As an athlete that won’t quit, I know what pain can mean to overall well-being. As a woman, I know what hormonal imbalances can do to you. As a woman trying to be seen as beautiful without sacrificing health, I do the cosmetic treatments I offer. I think my patients would say they feel safe, heard, and supported. I’m proud that I’ve conquered so many obstacles naturally!

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Covid has made me realize how important we are to one another. Relationships are everything!
