Conversations with Nathan Morrissette

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nathan Morrissette.

Hi Nathan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I always loved music. I sold my first car to my parents and bought DJ equipment when I was 16. (1995) After a couple of years of djing parties and weddings I started remixing songs and trying to be a battle DJ. It was cool and all but I wanted to make my own music so when I was about 21 (2000) I sold all my DJ equipment to slowly buy studio equipment to build what is now “Low Key Productions” I started learning the craft step by step from instruction manuals until YouTube came along, and taught me everything I do now. Writing, producing, recording, and now mixing and mastering my own music. The last and final step which I’m still learning is marketing and promoting. (Which is probably the most important) I had very serious health problems from 2020 till 2022 and lost my father due to cancer in February of 2022. I put my 1st solo album with everything done myself, out in early 2022.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
My health issues, losing my job, car, home, and home studio, and having to sell everything in my studio than having to buy it all again.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ve been serving in the restaurant business for over 20 years. So that gave me a lot of opportunities to connect with fellow artists and new followers. I’d always be rapping to other employees and handing out my CDs when I worked at apple bees, I made a song called “Crapplebees” that was a big hit while working there. I’m different with my music because I stay with that 90’s hip-hop vibe and focus on lyrics. Not just a hot beat

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
Bad luck with my health definitely good luck from my family for all their support over the years
