Daily Inspiration: Meet Alexandra Arenas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Arenas.

Hi Alexandra, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am originally from Boston and moved to Orlando about four years now. I am a freelance makeup artist and currently obtaining my Esthetician license. As a rewarding profession, I am a certified lash tech and certified in special effects makeup as well. At the end of the day, I just love doing what I love, making people look good and feel good in their own skin. A career in esthetics and to become the next makeup mogul is my lifetime goal.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
My biggest struggle when I first moved was building clientele. After a covid hit, networking face to face and all sorts of events were getting canceled.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a freelance makeup artist and currently obtaining my Esthetician license. I am a certified lash tech and certified in special effects makeup as well. I am most proud of being able to say I worked New York Fashion Week 2019. Attending, let alone being able to be a part of the runway team, was a dream come true.

Can you talk about how you think about risk?
I took a risk when the opportunity of New York Fashion Week arose. For one, I was located in Orlando, FL and the show was in New York smack in the middle of the week. I put myself out there and sent my info, not expecting a response. I got a reply within minutes asking if I could get there the same day. To say the least, it was a show for an artist/designer I was a fan of, had to book a flight the same day and was unpaid. I was risking spending money I didn’t have for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Sometimes you gotta put it all out on the line and go for what you want!
