Daily Inspiration: Meet Amira Martin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amira Martin.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
During the start of the pandemic, I was bored as I couldn’t leave the house. I knew that other kids were struggling too, so I decided to come up with a subscription box for kids to help bring joy to their door. One option is a craft box, which comes with instructions and items to make three crafts. There is a theme each month and the three crafts are centered around that. We also send a fun, educational sheet with facts about the theme. This option is for boys and girls, recommended ages 7-12. The other option is the accessory box for girls. This comes with five fun accessories (room decor, purses, jewelry, hair items, etc.) that are handpicked by myself. Not only does it hopefully bring joy to them, it gives them something to do to help with pandemic boredom or gives them fun accessories since many people are not shopping like before COVID.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Marketing and advertising has been somewhat of a hurdle. Getting my idea out to people that would like my boxes has been hard, but my parents help me with ads on social media. I also worry whether my customers will like the crafts picked for them and/or like their accessories.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
