Hi Ricardo, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In 2013, I came on-board as co-founder of Nerd Nite Orlando. Nerd Nite is an evening of entertaining and educational presentations. Since then, I’ve hosted hundreds of monthly events as well as special programming at Comic-Con, SXSW, and more. [All of which were impacted by the lockdown/shutdown.] We are currently collaborating and doing Nerd Nite events virtually. In 2020, I started a new company that produces NERDIER THINGS, a series featuring the intersection of culture, history, and movies.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Event organizing is always a challenge. Making sure that all parties involved are informed, prepared, and ready to execute. But after years of this work, the greatest challenge has been navigating the coronavirus.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I studied video production and communications and have worked professionally as a social media director/manager and as an organizer, among other things. However, I always identify as a creative because I’ve brought my filmmaking skills, my design skills, and musical skills to every professional role I’ve undertaken.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Believing in the work that you are doing.
