Today we’d like to introduce you to Deangela Nicole.
Hi Deangela, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve struggled with the skin majority of my life after trying everything from over-the-counter products to seeing a dermatologist who could only offer me harsh medications and not being satisfied with the results. I decided to take matters into my own hands. I chose to go to school to become a licensed esthetician because I couldn’t find anyone who looked like me in this field. I remember just wanting to find an Esthetician or Dermatologist of color who cold relate to me and how my skin works. In school I not only learn to help others like myself who has struggled with skin issues but to also learn to help myself in a more natural way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Becoming an Esthetician has been one of my greatest achievements. But in no way has it been a smooth road from working a full-time job, going to school full time all during a pandemic. It took endurance and dedication. I really had to have faith and trust the journey. My family always told me if you don’t give up you WILL win, and I was determined not to give up. I have learned through this journey to give more and expect nothing in return. Help as many people as you can. I’ve been blessed thus far and have been given some GREAT opportunities. I’m so excited to blossom in my new career that I’m so passionate about. I realize that there wasn’t enough black estheticians around. I want to be that person for people who look like me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
An Esthetician is a licensed professional that specializes in Facials and hair removal. I went to school a little longer to become a paramedical Esthetician. I can do more medical-grade skincare facials that may include Chemical Peels, microdermabrasions, HydraFacials, microneedling, PRP (plasma) facials, dermaplaning and much more. As an esthetician, I want my clients to know that healthy glows skin doesn’t happen overnight. It takes consistency. A good home care routine. Good products. And monthly visits to your esthetician. My goal is to have all my clients feel confident in their own skin.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was very shy, and girly. You could find me playing dress-up in my mom’s closet and make-up most of the time.
