Exploring Life & Business with Jessica Rodríguez of Skin Care by JR

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Rodríguez.

Hi Jessica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Jessica Rodríguez, I am Venezuelan and I have been living in this wonderful country for five years. I have been married for seven years and I have a baby of 11 months. In my country I studied psychology and dedicated myself for four years to help homeless people with drug addiction problems. I was a volunteer for more than nine years in a hospital for children with cancer and belonged to an organization of hospital clowns. I am the youngest of five sisters. And they are all lovers of beauty and skincare, especially my mom. That is where that passion that I called a hobby was born from a very young age. Five years ago I had to leave everything in my country due to serious political persecution that put my life at risk. In two suitcases I kept some clothes that I could and arrived in this country with all the illusions of the world. When I emigrated, I suffered (like many who leave everything in their native countries to seek a safe and happy life) a loss of identity. I didn’t know what to do.

Years passed until I decided to study to become an esthetician. It was a bit hard because I worked 11 hours a day taking care of two babies and I was also pregnant, so I worked all day, eat something in my car and then went to study at night four hours daily. But when I got to my school, the fatigue left because I had found my passion again! Then I graduated and studied to be a specialist in plasma fibroblast, microneedling and many other things. I have my space in Longwood Florida and from here I treat my patients with the goal of healing their skin, of listening to them, of letting them know that I am here for them. I love seeing their progress, both, physically and mentally. This profession has allowed me to continue applying my knowledge in psychology. I am the happiest woman in the world when I work. I am a nature lover that is why I myself create the hydroplastic masks that I offer to my clients made with natural ingredients. Like the other products that I use, good brand- highly recognized. I’m starting out in this business but with all the best energy out there. I am happy to see that all the people who come to my “happy place” leave so happy and return! For me that is the most important thing. I work little because I balance this with being a full-time mom, which is my most important role. My husband has been invaluable support throughout this process. When I have wanted to fall, he lifts me up. My brand is called SKINCARE by JR. It means naturalness, spirituality, energies, contact, organic products, love. At the moment, I follow a strict protocol for COVID 19 that you can find detail on my Instagram @skincarebyjr

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Tired, being pregnant taking care of two children is a job that left me very tired at the end of the day. Eat while driving to get to school on time. It was a bit stressful but very rewarding. I have been through many things in my life that have made me a strong and grateful person.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Skin Care by JR?
My business differs from others because I mix knowledge of psychology and skin. It is a complete experience. I work with emotions, with relaxation but at the same time, I focus on healing and improving the skin until reaching the established goals. My commitment to my patients is unique. It does not end when you go for a consultation. We keep communicated. They are special to me. I offer anti-aging facials, anti-acne, back facials, deep facials, relaxing facials. I work on a technique called Plasma Fibroblast that has results compared to plastic surgery but without risks. I also do microneedles, blachings, dermaplaning, quimical peelings. I offer a unique experience. I have gift cards and a special birthday package, where for a low cost I decorate the room with balloons, a cake and a gift. It’s so special and I really enjoy it every step.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Yes, of course! My business was born at the beginning of the pandemic. So yes. I learned that from every crisis, we could get something good. That the sun rises for everyone. That you don’t have to give up. That everything is possible, everything is possible when you really want it.
