Hidden Gems: Meet Juan Pinzon of Contive Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juan Pinzon.

Hi Juan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am the CEO of Contive Media, a social media agency for non-profits in Orlando, FL.

Contive Media was born as a response to the pandemic because we recognized that millions of businesses closed permanently or temporarily in the U.S due to the shutdowns. We discovered the key factor between those that closed their doors forever and those that opened back up (in most cases) was due to having an online presence. So we decided to help small businesses be prepared for the unforeseen chapters in life. Our mission is to SERVE others in an online world with excellence.

My co-founders are also, like me, Latino “Gen-Z’ers” with a passion to help others. I work with an incredible team with talents unlike I have seen yet. Noelys our CMO has worked on major marketing campaigns at Volvo and is a natural born entrepreneur and my COO Andrew, is an organizational maverick, building our internal and external tools with ease. We also just added Stone as our Creative Director and he has already made an incredible impact on our team. We even have an incredible intern in Amanda who is shaping up to be quite the content creator.

A few months ago, we were deciding what “niche” to specialize in since we all noticed that you are more valuable when you become an expert in a particular market. Our cohesiveness was our love to serve others and what better way to align ourselves to others who feel the same way than to help non-profits. I myself have worked at a non-profit and identified many winning strategies to shifting to this world, and we know the positive social impact social media can have when placed in the right hands.

Now we are in our re-branding stage here at Contive Media, we are shifting our language and strategizing our re-birth in hopes to be THE social media agency for non-profits!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Don’t be a “yes-man”.

At the beginning stages of our process, we landed some clients that asked us for many things that weren’t necessarily things we did. We fell at the mercy of our clients in hope to be the all-inclusive agency. That failed us and ultimately our clients because it broke attention from what we were good at. We learned our lesson and needless to say, we found out it’s ok to say no with confidence.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Contive Media?
Contive Media is a social media agency for non-profits as previously stated. This includes creating a marketing strategy completely online for our partners by setting up or re-branding their social media pages on Facebook, Instagram, and even TikTok. We can create content, run paid ads, consult, and even run easy to read analytics and reporting.

We want to show non-profits the incredible value that social media can have and the impact on how storytelling can bring in more donors, volunteers and even awareness to your cause. We also offer Branding Guidelines if your non-profit doesn’t have one to base our marketing strategy from it.

We know social media, we grew up with Myspace pages, joined Facebook early on, posted on Instagram and know some of the TikTok dances. We are ahead of the curve and because of it understand that there is a positive side to social media.

We have a graphic design team to bring your ideas to life, we offer photography to capture moments to be shared and much more! Social media sites have noticed that people want to be a part of something greater, so they have added ‘donate buttons’ to Facebook and Instagram, among others, and most non-profits aren’t even aware of the mass of people they’re are missing out on, we will change that. I am proud of our stories that three young entrepreneurs decided to use their talents to help make a change in a way they know how.

What does success mean to you?
Success isn’t about what you acquired, it is about how you served.
