Hidden Gems: Meet Kim Sakane of Party Your Plants Off

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Sakane.

Hi Kim, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, and was blessed to have grown up in a beautiful melting pot of cultures that influence Hawaii and its people. Cooking and food have been my passion for as long as I can remember. These passions translated into a pursuit of becoming a professional chef. I moved to Vegas about six years ago to explore new opportunities and had the chance to work under many world-renowned chefs such as Nobu Matsuhisa, Daniel Humm, Daniela Soto-Innes, and Jose Andres. Now I am focusing on my own endeavor which is a 100% plant-based meal prep service called Party Your Plants Off. I started the meal delivery service for many reasons, and they include challenging myself to a different culinary technique that focuses on the environmental and health benefits that go along with eating more plant-based items. I believe your food should taste good and make you feel good as well.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With any new endeavor, there are its challenges. I think the most difficult part for my tiny business right now is gaining new customers and marketing our brand. I know with people’s busy lifestyles nowadays that it is harder to eat a proper meal. A lot of people don’t have time to cook for themselves and end up getting take-out or fast food, which is usually an unhealthy choice. We are looking to provide a convenient and healthy option for people to enjoy throughout their week.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Party Your Plants Off is a vegan meal prep delivery service in Las Vegas, Nevada. We understand the hectic lifestyle people face nowadays and want to offer them a convenient and delicious solution for their meals. We offer a rotating menu of different dishes on a bi-weekly basis and deliver them straight to your door. There are too many overly processed vegan products or just bland under-seasoned food out there. Our meals are home cooked with little to no processed ingredients and is just downright delicious that anyone would enjoy. Our main goal is to provide people with good-tasting food that will provide them with all the health benefits eating more plant-based foods has to offer.

What does success mean to you?
I believe that success is not measured in titles or awards but in how proud and happy you feel about your product and business and how it positively affects other people like your customers. After working in some big named restaurants, I thought that the only way to be successful in the industry is to become a sous chef or an executive chef of a restaurant. I thought that was the only way people would respect me and my cooking. But after seeing how draining, toxic, and unmotivated the restaurant industry could be, I wanted something more for myself. I realized that success is what you make of it and how you perceive it.
