Hidden Gems: Meet LaNina Dobson of Roll Over

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaNina Dobson.

Hi LaNina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I started Roll Over for many reasons but, primarily, it was to assist people and their pets by doing what I love the most; helping. I have two fur babies of my own and was always loathe to leave them in conventional kennels because my kids are not used to being confined to a single location. Plus, the thought of having to pay for them to be allowed to play with the other pets, seemed like a plot centered on greed to me. Unfortunately, issues with my health (I have Crohn’s Disease and suffered from two episodes of heart failure) sometimes made boarding them necessary. It was an issue that I felt others dealt with as well; knowing that you cannot care for your pet but, not wanting to send them to “jail” either. I founded Roll Over to be the answer for those owners that may feel guilty sticking their pet in a cage. It took a lot of hard work, researching, saving money by cutting out personal commodities in my life, and patience to get where we are today! But, we’re still growing and I am hoping with hard work and continued quality service, we will be able to help more people and their animals!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Wow! This is a great question. It has not been a smooth road in the least. It seemed like, in the very beginning, every time I inhaled there was a new issue that needed to be resolved. From finding a properly coded location to combating the effects of COVID-19 on the market to having to fix our bus, Berta, every time she was driven, issues were like flies and I was the stinkiest pile of poo in the world. One of the biggest obstacles was (and still is), funding. Everything I put into Roll Over came from hard work at the full-time position I had at the time, side-hustling (legally LOL), and depriving myself of the luxuries that I once enjoyed (like eating at Red Lobster on my birthday). I didn’t qualify for any loans, for one reason or another (mostly student loans), and access to grants was so competitive that I didn’t qualify or couldn’t win any of them. Then, there is the constant chore of attempting to overcome the prejudice associated with my race and gender. Facilitating a brick & mortar in the service industry is a trial in itself but, having to do so as a black woman, well, let’s just say I have had more than a few unpleasant encounters.

That’s my burden to bear, I suppose and I try to do so as gracefully as possible. Believe it or not, I’ve been told that I am a great role model to the younger minority generation. Wild, I know! That was never my intent and, goodness knows, I am not perfect. I AM trustworthy, full of integrity, and not afraid of hard work. Plus, I absolutely love what I do! So, I guess that I am not the worst person to look up to.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Roll Over is a “kennel optional” facility, meaning, we prefer that your pet be allowed to free roam with their friends instead of being locked up in a cage all day and night. Our Pet Care Specialists actively engage in playtime activities and more to keep your fur babies happy while they are being constantly monitored. Roll Over specializes in pet transport, pet boarding, pet daycare, and dog walking. Our transport services are another commodity that sets us apart from your typical facility. We can provide pick-up and drop-off services for boarding and daycare! Couple that with our 24/7 availability, by appointment, and we are an all-around accommodating, pet care company! Currently, we are most proud to offer 15% off all services (not fees or transport) to Orlando Health employees and active-duty or retired military personnel. Everything that we offer can be booked online at or, you can give us a call at (407) 279-0626.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
