Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Spivey.
Hi Lauren, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Spa has not always been my desired path, I landed here. As a teen, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia which means I have an intimate relationship with chronic pain among other things that come along with such a diagnosis. I started receiving messages shortly after. I went to college for Chemistry with the intention to synthesize drugs but had a change of heart and wanted to have a holistic approach. I found my way back to massage and skin health.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not! As far as clientele goes, I feel like this industry comes naturally. This industry has been very good to me and I’ve excelled easily. Things that could have been deterrents such as falsified reports to put my professional license in question/under investigation, a business split, being a single parent with little help and of course, the physical and emotional stress my body in under with a chronic diagnosis all ended up being motivators to push me to be greater and help people like me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I believe whole heartedly in what my business offers. Our tag line for Spivey Spa is “Where Science, Luxury & Therapy meet”. because spa services can be ALL of these things. Spivey Spa is modeled to help the client as a whole and as someone who needs these services to function in society, my clients and I are a testament to what consistency and professional guidance can do to improve quality of life. I am a massage therapist, esthetician, teacher, coach and spa owner. My specialties for services are therapeutic massage and waxing although I love variety and can do much more. I actually NEED the services I provide. Others tend to do this out of compassion for others but I come from a place of empathy which makes a huge difference. I know what it’s like to not be able to work, care for my kids, be embarrassed by excessive hair, and so forth. I am most proud of my dedication to create jobs and become an employer that provides a great workplace as well as the effect we have on our client’s lives. I want all of the readers to know that the Spivey Spa experience has to be felt. Second hand knowledge is not enough. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Honesty has truly been the best policy! I have many clients that are entrepreneurs and when they ask how things are going, being honest with them has always proven to have an amazing return! This translates into honesty with my employees and simply being honest with myself about what I want and need, then going from there.
