Today we’d like to introduce you to Olga Clavier.
Hi Olga, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Summer of 2003 was an important year for my family to remember. I left my country of origin, Venezuela, accompanied by my two sons, 8 and 5 years old, and embarked on a journey looking for a new, better and safe life. Destination: Canada New beginnings full of obstacles and struggles await us…language, weather, gastronomy, and culture.
It was not easy to adapt to this new reality but looking back it was totally worth it. We made Canada our second home and then 11 years later the story repeats itself. I and my youngest son, after a lot of thought, made the decision to move to the United States, specifically to the sunny and warm city of Orlando, FL. This time the reason behind the move was to offer my son the opportunity of improving his baseball skills and take his game to a higher level.
Our second story began in 2014 when I was presented with the opportunity to buy a small family-run janitorial business that provided a viable way to make a living for my son and me in Orlando.
Owning and managing a commercial janitorial cleaning business was quite a challenge to me since I had no previous experience in that industry. Being an internationally trained pharmacist and having worked for Sephora Canada, my expertise was primarily in the health, wellness, and beauty industries. However, I took a leap of faith and started learning from the former owner all the ropes of the business.
It was an interesting journey of accelerated learning with many bumps along the way. My strong work ethic plus my transferable skills from my customer service experience finally paid off.
Seven years later, I can say I have built a solid, reputable business. After many mistakes, I discovered a niche market that proved to be doable and profitable. That niche is the final cleaning of 100,000-150,000 SF self-storage buildings.
I continue to learn every day and keep myself open to new business opportunities and new projects. In fact, last year during the worst world pandemia, I decided to take advantage of the rapid explosion of social media to grow our online presence in platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Youtube. To accomplish that, I revamped the business’ logo and website.
I feel very passionate about taking care of our health and planet. I am against strong chemicals. That is why I have immersed myself in the research of alternative products good for people and good for our Mother Earth. Currently, I am working on the idea of bringing to the market a clean, effective, and ecological line of cleaning products. I am a firm believer that I should share the responsibility of maintaining a sustainable way of living from all of us and our future generations.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of my main challenges was to learn all the professional cleaning techniques, most effective cleaning products, and how to read project blueprints. I also had to deal with a lot of misinformation and prejudice about my professional ability in the commercial cleaning and construction industry, mainly led by men. It took time, superior performance, and a multitude of 5 stars ratings to gain their respect and trust. With those qualities, my company gained the reputation to be an on-time, first class cleaning service.
A significant challenge was the loss of my formal trained and experienced business partner. It was a scary time and I often doubted my own abilities. Thanks to my strong faith and loving support of family and friends, I was able to suppress my fears and move forward.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me is not a straight line. It means having a fulfilling career where you can look back and be proud of your accomplishments. Success is also a team effort to finish our work on time and deliver solutions to our clients. It is also every thank you I received for all the people who my business has employed.
