Hidden Gems: Meet Rebecca Lang of Live Love Laugh Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Lang

Hi Rebecca, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into the event industry started with my own wedding. I love to admit that my wedding was not the fairytale event that every bride dreams of. I got married at a young age. By then I was already known as the control freak with a Type A personality. I thought I could plan a 150 person wedding in 6 months while finishing school and working a full time job. Boy was I wrong! When I found myself crying my eyes out and picking up McDonald’s after the wedding (because of course I didn’t eat), I vowed to never let anyone that I know getting married feel the way I felt. So the itch of planning events with the mission to help clients release unnecessary stress to me was formed. But I didn’t want to enter this new exciting-yet stressful industry- prematurely. For six years, I worked in a private country club learning what it takes to make it in the event industry. I started off as an intern then made my way to Assistant Director of Catering and Private Events. In 2016, I became a certified wedding planner through The Bridal Society. With my background and experience in various aspects of the event industry (rentals, hotel, event coordination), I knew there was so much more left for me to do!. In 2018, I officially established my own wedding and event planning company, Live Love Laugh Events. My mission is to ensure that each client Live in the Moment, Love Every Minute and Laugh at every Moment.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Starting your own business will always come with a set of challenges. However, starting a wedding and event planning business-which CBS News listed as the one of the most stressful career to have- brings a whole new set of struggles. For example, during this global pandemic we are currently facing, having to postpone your entire spring and part of your summer calendar was mentally and emotionally draining. I am very much a small business so every email, call or frantic text came to me. Trying to console couples who were looking forward to their big day for over a year was not something a certification or degree can prepare you for. Thankfully, my clients were just as supportive of me as I was of them. We are and will get through this time together and have the time of our lives when each their BIG day arrives!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Live Love Laugh Events is a wedding and event planning company located in Central Florida. We specialize in weddings, but cater to social and corporate events as well. What sets me apart for the average planner is my vast knowledge of the event industry and the passion I have to make each event memorable. Professionally, I have had experiences in weddings, private events, hotels, rentals and logistics. I take all that knowledge and pour it into my clients and their planning experience. My clients can feel the passion I have behind each event we plan together. That I take their event as seriously as if I was planning my own. In every consultation I ask questions to learn about their personalities, things they love to do, etc to learn the essence of the person and why having this event is important to them. And I do it with a BIG smile (now I smile with my eyes under my mask). Currently, I am also using the platform I have with Live Love Laugh Events to help create a space for Brown Skin Brides in particular. Many of my brown skin brides – past and present- have said it is hard for them to see a representation of themselves in the wedding industry. I want to shatter that ceiling. So I created an editorial with some amazing vendors and it turned out amazingly well. Even Viola Davis reposted some of the behind the scenes on her feed. WOW!
