Hidden Gems: Meet Scherina Alli of IWC Family Chiropractic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Scherina Alli

Hi Scherina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Long story short, I was always a pre-medical student. It wasn’t until right before graduation that I withdrew my applications to medical school because I wasn’t truly connecting with the field. I graduated and went back for a second degree so I could figure out what my life purpose was. Of course I needed to work to support myself so I landed into a Chiropractic office and the rest is pretty much history. This was my first encounter with the chiropractic field and I absolutely fell in love. I also received care for the first time and just watched my life change and transform into the person I am today. After a year and a half of working at that office, right after graduating with that second degree, I applied to Chiropractic college. I knew during school that I wanted to open my own practice upon graduating. I wanted an office to call my own, but to also build my own community of like-minded individuals. I wanted to see lives transform the way mine has. I graduated from chiropractic college in December of 2016 and opened my practice in April of 2017. We’ve seen massive growth in the community where I focus on serving full families, perinatal care and pediatric care – and I’m truly in love with what I do. Most know the work that I do “as seen on The Goop Lab” on Netflix. The specific Chiropractic technique is called Network Spinal and I’m one of 7 practitioners in the state of FL! The technique focuses on mind – body connection and the nervous system versus the traditional pain focused chiropractic model.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not! – when running your own business from scratch there are so many lessons to be learned. Finding the right coach, delegating tasks, knowing when to hire, marketing strategies that work for me, tie in having a baby and let’s just say its been one heck of a ride!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, FL and became passionate about serving families. I’ve found my heart gravitating towards fertility, preconception, prenatal, pediatric, women’s health and whole family wellness throughout Chiropractic and additional training and certifications through the ICPA (International Chiropractic Pediatric Association) and a dedicated member to The Pediatric Experience, with world renown Pediatric Chiropractor, Dr. Tony Ebel. In addition to my educational training through Palmer and through the ICPA, I spent my entire time in Chiropractic College traveling across the country to learn the work of Network Spinal (formerly known as Network Spinal Analysis), which is how most people in our community find me, being one of seven practitioners in the state of Florida. I focus on a very gentle and low-force approach to holistic healing. Network Spinal (NS) works to transform patterns within the nervous system so that healing occurs from the inside out. It is a very powerful technique that allows for the nervous system to reorganize its whole system, which will cause the person to experience new ways of perceiving and transforming their health, thoughts, emotions, and experience of life itself. NS works by gentle pressures which are applied to specific areas of the spine based on individual needs to promote reorganizational waves within the body. This reorganization that happens within the body addresses spinal misalignments and physical stressors as well as emotional stressors and life factors all while complimenting each practice member’s innate intelligence which gives their body the ability to naturally self-heal. Self healing in all aspects – circulatory, digestive, eliminatory, hormonal, glandular, immunological, muscular, reproductive, respiratory, and skeletal – which all depend on the optimal function of the nervous system. Chiropractic and IWC is formulated on the healing model based on vitalism and understanding that the body is a dynamic, ever-changing organism, continuously changing and adapting to its needs and desires. Chiropractic techniques fit into three basic models based on the three body systems primarily addressed by chiropractors: the skeletal system, the muscular system and the nervous system. While all of these systems are addressed with all chiropractic techniques, the techniques themselves can be differentiated from on another based on their method of assessment and their method of addressing the body. Segmental or skeletal system centered care adjusts the vertebrae that are not in their optimum position back to a more normal position and, in doing so, affect the skeletal system first and then the muscular system next. Postural or muscular system centered care first involve putting tension or relaxation within the muscular system in order to allow an easier structural adjustment take place. This will address the muscular system first which will then affect the skeletal system and then finally the nervous system. Tonal or nervous system centered care focus on the changes in a person’s physiology when addressing the nervous system. Network Spinal addresses the actual parasympathetic nerves first, which then affects the muscular system which finally affects the skeletal system or structure. When we address the nervous system first, we are getting to the root cause of disease. Your nervous system innervates every single cell, tissue, system and muscle in the body. The muscle will then affect the structure of the spine so it’s the most important aspect of care at IWC as we unwind the stress and tension on the nervous system.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me and completely aligns with our mission is for people/our community to live a life in their true nature and what aligns with them as individuals. This is such an important part of the healing process and a staple within Network Spinal because it not only means alignment in your body and spine, but alignment in your life. So as the nervous system unwinds from stressors and trauma, we see individuals take control of their health and well being – meaning making decisions that will serve their purpose – relationships, nutrition, career choices, lifestyle habits, etc.
