Today we’d like to introduce you to Lashonda Geffrard.
Lashonda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Passionate about animals since I was a child. Unfortunately, I didn’t grow up in a household where I was allowed to have pets. After high school, I continued to pursue my passion for animals and graduated from the Florida Institute of animal arts. After years of experience as a professional pet groomer, Together with my husband, we opened The Paw Shop in 2015. Today we provide salon services pets all over central Florida. We. Specialize in full-service grooming for dogs and cats, personality grooms and color are our favorite! Our salon even provides doggy daycare and In-home pet sitting services.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road as an entrepreneur has been an uphill climb. We are the Only black-owned brick and mortar pet salon in central Florida so just in that we’ve faced a lot of diversity. However, the journey has been gratifying. We have been able to establish a non-profit organization called Paws of Hope that aims to help families care for their pets during seasons of hardship. That has been our way of staying positive and focused when business becomes hard.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The Paw Shop and Paws of Hope Florida.
A larger facility!! My husband and I desire to care for more animals in an environment that is fun, friendly and safe for all animals. We’d also love to provide pet food and even training programs where we can teach and share the career as pet care professionals to others.
