Inspiring Conversations with Lee Lovette of CrossFit Winter Garden

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lee Lovette.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was a Police officer for almost 15 years. I loved my job and loved helping people. I got to a point in my career when the being the worst part of someone’s minute, hour, day and sometimes life started to wear on my mental health. I found myself looking forward to finishing my 12-hour shift and going to train and coach CrossFit. At CrossFit, I knew I was a part of the best hour of their day. Heck, it was the best part of mine most days as well. We came up to Winter Garden to visit our sons Godparents and absolutely fell in love with Winter Garden. When we returned home, I couldn’t keep Winter Garden or CrossFit off my mind.

A few months had past and I found myself praying about the direction and answers more than usual until the answer were ringing in my head so loud I had to tell my wife I was retiring, moving us to WG with our two-year-old son and leaving everything we ever knew to set out on a journey in Gods Hands, trusting His path. After some very long nights of conversation and logistics, we up and moved without a clue in the world about owning or running a business, let alone a CrossFit Gym. I had eight years of CrossFit, multiple coaching certifications and a burning desire to help people achieve their physical and for some mental goals as well. Four expansions in 5 years and 12 accolades later including, Best New Business, Best Gym, Gym of the Year, Trainer of the Year, and Best Fitness Program. In 2018 we started Orlando and Orange Counties’ first-ever Special Olympics Powerlifting Program and since its inception, we have won over 10 area games championships, 7 State Championships and 16 Regional Championships. We have been truly blessed in this season of our lives and have no plans on stopping going into 2021.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There are always hurdles to overcome with any new business and a learning curve. When you get knocked down, what you do after defines you…
