Today we’d like to introduce you to Sunny Davis.
Hi Sunny, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
From the age of ten, I struggled with being overweight. My peak was from the ages of 12 to 16 where I weighed a whopping 265 pounds. I lost the weight but it kept fluctuating for years. It wasn’t until I made the decision to no longer consume animal products and to do herbal cleanses seasonally that I was able to lose the weight, keep it off and significantly improve my mental and emotional health. It was from there that I wanted to spread awareness of the importance of what we consume and how it impacts every facet of our well-being. I started doing in-home meal prep for a few clients. As much as I loved it, I was still cooking animal products for them. It went against my beliefs and I decided to start my own vegan meal prep company, Daily Ambrosia. I was on a mission to enhance the lives of others one plate at a time. Through Daily Ambrosia, I am able to provide people with delicious, nutritious and quality meals at an affordable price. I not only offer meal prep, but I host cooking classes, share recipes and introduce people to foods they may have never thought of trying. My motto is “Our Food, Your Medicine”. Essentially, my goal is to improve the relationship that folks have with food and inspire them to take their health into their own hands.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When I first started, business was slow. I thought there wasn’t space for me in this highly saturated market. I had to work hard and really promote myself to get even an ounce of attention that the big brands already had. There were times that I wanted to quit and go back to working for someone else, but I couldn’t let the dream die. Every time I thought about stepping away, the Universe would send me a few clients or remind me of the individuals I had already helped so much along the way. Transitioning my business to fit into this new Covid lifestyle has been challenging and business slowed for quite some time. But there has been an influx in people’s understanding of the connection between what they eat and how I feel. People want to be their healthiest selves and they are taking steps to be healthier and live longer. I am grateful that they are looking to me to keep them fed and feeling strong. It’s been the feedback that has kept me going and the lives I’ve touched that inspire me to do better every single day. Over the last few months, business has picked up and people are becoming more aware of Daily Ambrosia and what we have to offer. I look forward to what 2021 will bring and the lives I get to touch in the coming months.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am the owner, chef and wellness coach at Daily Ambrosia. I provide 100% vegan meal prep and catering for events, wellness coaching for those transitioning into the vegan lifestyle, juicing programs & packages and total body herbal cleansing. My main goal is to help others improve their health one step at a time. My focus is to encourage and inspire others to take control of their health through the foods that they eat. I am helping people to understand the connections they have to food and how we can help break the patterns and habits to usher in a new and healthier lifestyle. I feel as though my struggles with weight loss as a kid and teen allow me to connect with others. I’ve come from years of yoyo dieting, engaging in fad diets and doing whatever the latest weight-loss trend is. I was a poster-child for experiencing the difficulties of trying to maintain a healthy weight and am able to give first-hand knowledge on the ways to overcome cravings, crash dieting and how to renovate your life to make room for healthy living. I am proud that I have created a brand that is known for inspiring and motivating others to want to eat less animal products and radically change their lives for the better. I want your readers to know that they can look to Daily Ambrosia as a resource for alternatives for healthy living and a safe place to land when they need a little help with their journeys.
How do you define success?
I define success as being able to do what you love and/or to follow your passion for the rest of your life. For me, success is defined by the myriad of stories from people I have helped. If I ever feel down or think I am not doing enough, I look back on the lives I’ve impacted and I know that I am successfully rewriting people’s history.
