Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am the owner of Florida Food Trucks LLC a food truck event management company. I founded this company in April of 2020. The idea of the company came to me during the COVID-19 Pandemic when everything was at a standstill. At the time, my family owned two food trucks and I started to see how this pandemic not only affected me, as I was laid off from my current job, as well as my family members that owned food trucks. Pre-pandemic, I had the opportunity to see how the industry was growing and continued to grow. Food truck events and catering opportunities were growing in popularity and the pandemic really hit these small businesses hard.
I started the company with the goal to grow my own small business, help my family with their food trucks, and help grow the businesses of other food trucks within the Orlando area. I saw the potential and endless opportunities for the food truck industry and wanted to provide them with every opportunity possible. I started off offering the business to residential communities within Central Florida, seeing how restaurants were closed and no one was able to leave their homes or were working from home. I set up a variety of food trucks to attend the communities once a week. This turned out to be a hit at every community when people were stuck in their homes and did not want to cook. Today, Florida Food Trucks has 50+ food trucks on our vendor’s list and have had the opportunity to work with various communities, churches, theme parks and more. Whether is it a catering event, employee appreciation, weekly lunch or dinner at corporate offices, weddings or large-scale events we have food truck vendors for every opportunity.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Growing the business and getting my name out there has been challenging but very rewarding. Starting a small business during a pandemic was definitely not easy but it was worth it. I would definitely have to say one of the main struggles was learning how to work with other small business and gain their trust. Many of the food trucks never worked with another company to help them book events. However, this is a win win situation for both myself and each vendor who works any of our events. Today, I am proud to say that not only am I succeeding with growing my business but I am doing the same every time I book any of our food truck vendors for any event. I saw how hard it was for my family members to have to shut down their businesses for some time and I believe my company really helped them get back out there.
As you know, we’re big fans of Florida Food Trucks LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We provide scheduling service to clients who can benefit from food trucks being onsite at their event to assist with feeding hungry attendees.
Florida Food Trucks leverages its food truck network to create and deliver unique and memorable experiences. Whether it is a corporate daily lunch service, event, festival, recurring service, private parties or simply catering. Through a selective process, we ensure all of our food truck partners meet the Florida Food Trucks standards.
We create a program that will suit both our clients and our partner food trucks. We take the work out of scheduling so that our clients can just enjoy the benefits of food trucks on site at their event. Our service is 100% free and we handle all vendor relations, insurance, monitoring of licenses, and compliance with state laws.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I believe the food truck event industry will continue to grow over the next 5-10 years.
Food trucks have grown in popularity and give a whole new concept to restaurants and the culinary experience.
A restaurant on wheels that can be at any place, any time is amazing. With the event industry coming back from a very tough 2020, there are more opportunities coming up everyday for food trucks.
Our company focuses on both event coordinating and food trucks which are two industries that we have seen a big shift in within the past year alone.
