Inspiring Conversations with Rubi Moore of Moose Dog Coffee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rubi Moore.

Hi Rubi, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Coffee has been a notable part of my life from a young age and has continued to boast its’ presence throughout, in many different forms ranging from the simplest to at least close to bougie. After years of growing interest with inquisition and experimentation to accompany it, the decision was made to move forward with coffee roasting. Just as we took our first step to start a company and make a large investment in it, covid broke out, and the world and our plans went awry. We’ve stuck with it thus far, selling coffee at farmers’ markets and online for local delivery, all the while building competency in coffee roasting and begrudgingly learning how to “run a business”. Joking aside, things are going well. We’re building community, growing our family, and concentrating on making an impact as a company, all with coffee as our catalyst.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not to be said from a position of pessimism but from essentially the beginning the road has been littered with fodder.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We roast coffee and have plans to expand into the cafe/roastery arena soon. Our focus is community and relationships, with our processes and activities working towards improving those focal points as best we can. We like goofiness and fun with an awareness of integrity and quality. Simply explained, we want to make exceptional coffee accessible to people and spread as much love on top of shit as we can throughout the entire process from seed to cup.

What do you think about luck?
We’ve met some really awesome people throughout our short time in business. I couldn’t have dreamt of some of the fantastic connections we’ve made thus far.
