Inspiring Conversations with Tony Ponton of TPtraining

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Ponton.

Hi Tony, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Started my journey in the fitness industry 10 years ago in Myrtle Beach, SC. During my time at an everyday fitness center, I was fortunate enough to train a couple NFL guys (DaQuan Bowers, Ricky Sapp, Jamie Childers) in which led me being noticed by Under Armour. Eventually moved to Baltimore, MD to become head sports performance trainer at the Under Armour Performance Center. I had amazing athletes and great clientele during my time at UA. With amazing opportunities at hand with a big brand, I always had my heart back down south with my parents moving to FL and other family members as well, I decided to take the leap. Within in that leap, I started my own business “TPtraining” and I’ve cemented myself within Central Florida!

It has been a blessing here, and I’ve quickly adapted to the area and have started training amazing athletes as well as general population trying to reach their goals as well!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This road definitely hit some rough patches. I moved to Orlando in January 2020 and then proceeded Covid-19. As soon as I was hitting my groove it was halted with Covid, but so was everyone else in the World. Kept my grind through the unknown that was going on and managed to be recognizable for my athletes/clients’ successes in the area.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about TPtraining?
TPtraining encompasses many things, I pride myself always striving for more, why be good when you can achieve great!

I’m big on culture and healthy environment, all my clients/members can feel free to be themselves, and they all know they’ll be pushed to and beyond their limits…

Every gym/trainer can supply a good workout or routine, but nobody has the energy or results I bring day in and day out! I’m most proud of keep a great culture and setting my clients up success, whether it’s dropping those few lbs. starting on their varsity teams, or a 5th round draft pick become an All-Pro!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I don’t believe in luck; I believe in taking advantage of opportunities given to you or learning from your mistakes.
