Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Vivas.
Hi Ana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born and raised in Venezuela in a city called Barquisimeto. After graduating from High School at age 18, I left my country because of the political and economic situation that the country was going through. I came to the states and started studying Audio Production at Miami International University of Art and Design. I graduated with the best portfolio and started my first job as an Audio Engineer. I always loved photography so when I turned 15 years old, my dad gave me my first professional camera. I kept that camera with me and did some photography sessions on the side as a hobby. After graduating and working on a couple of jobs, I decided to grab my camera again as a side job and fast forward today is my full-time job. Right now, I work not only with Photography but also video and I am currently studying my second career as a Graphic Designer at Full Sail University.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not. Being a freelancer is like a roller coaster. I have definitely learned a lot of things through these five years. In the beginning, I had to Uber for a while at the same time that I was booking clients and during the start of the pandemic, I had to do it again. I love being a freelancer and doing what I love. I would not change it for anything and the struggles that I had overcome has only given me more strength to continue.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I offer services in photography, video and graphic design. I do a little bit of everything in photography. I love to take pictures of food, couples, weddings, and families. I also have an Instagram account @anita.tips, where I teach my community tips and tricks of photography, video, design, and apps. This platform has given me the opportunity to give online workshops to teach people how to improve their content creation for online platforms. I am definitely proud of how far I’ve come. I remember editing in my bed back when I live with my parents, not having an office or a steady income. I am proud that right now, I can connect with over 23k people on Instagram and I am able to teach what I know.
Any big plans?
I am planning to keep growing my company Vivas Media. I want to offer a hand full of services of content creation from photography to design. I also plan to keep growing my community on Instagram to keep teaching them what I know best.
