Life & Work with Kelisha Encarnacion

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelisha Encarnacion.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am from a Puerto Rican descent. I was born in Framingham, MA. My mother and father were both very hard workers and always provided for me and my siblings. One thing my mother did as a side gig and that she always had a talent for was hair. Her hairstylist game was on point! And I was fortunate to inherit that from her. I tell everyone often, “it’s just in my blood, I can’t explain it. I just love it”. I am very passionate about what I do. To be able to have a talent that you can share with people on a daily basis, as simple as a hairstyle, is the most rewarding feeling. It’s amazing and I’m just grateful that as a hairstylist, I can use my craft to promote the best version of one’s creative self.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
As a single mother of two boys, I had to make sure that what I wanted to do was going to make me and my children happy. It was a struggle in the beginning when they were babies, but as they get older, I have more time to concentrate on my craft. They support me one hundred percent and I love them for that!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a hairstylist. I have been in this field for about 13 years now. I specialize in custom haircuts and color. I’m more known for my work with blonde hair! What sets me apart from others is that I take huge pride in keeping the hair as healthy as possible. That is always my main priority when servicing any guest. I want them to feel as comfortable with me as possible as they trust me to give them a complete experience.

What’s next?
I am currently looking to start a haircare line. Oils and leave-in conditioners to start with. Simple and Organic. I’ve always had an eye for shiny hydrated hair! And want to find out more about how to nourish and treat it. I eventually want to own a few hair salons that carry my products as well as use them on guests.
