Life & Work with Tina Aldrich

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Aldrich.

Hi Tina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After doing stunt shows, I’ve always been heavily involved in the corporate world or running my own business for the last 20 years. Ten years ago, I noticed how drastically my health was declining from eating poorly and not taking time for myself. I started o2 Breathe Oxygen Bars in 2010. The basic focus was to help people feel good all naturally (and on this journey, I was to follow my own advice). This helps with hangovers, migraines, fatigue, jet lag, and more. From our own research and customer requests, I expanded from just oxygen bars to many holistic and metaphysical items in a retail shop to help people feel good.

Supporting various charities and people out on the front line helping others has always been a passion of mine. I believe if I can’t physically be there then I would do what I could to help those who can. We carry many different items that help to supports those causes in third world countries as well as our own. Today, we are now called One Utopia. Utopia is an imagined place or state in where everything is perfect. I love to be able to help people find whatever that is for them. We have a retail shop in Montrose Market and a plant-based drink shop (as well as a mobile trailer for events) in The Downtown Exchange, both in historic downtown Clermont. o2 Breathe is still alive for private events and will be able to be found in Montrose Market as our home base.

Personally, I’ve regained my health (losing 100 lbs in total) and have learned a very important balance. I accredit much of it to my hot yoga training at Orlando Power Yoga and am happy to be starting my yoga instructor certification this weekend at OM Yoga. My personal battles and struggles have lead me to where I am today. I am blessed to have an amazing supportive base of family and friends (which I believe you can find if you let them in). I have the honor of hosting two different travel shows in both Florida and Georgia that will air in 2021. I have continued to grow my own knowledge and education along the way by becoming certified in holistic therapy, crystal healing, as we as an herbalist. My greatest accomplishment yet is my son, Landyn, who will be six next week. I became a single mom before he was born and he’s been a gift and my driving force, as well as teaching me how to “feel alive” again.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing great in life is ever easily accomplished. I’ve battled depression, dramatic debt, obesity, and more. There were personal battles of feeling inadequate, beaten, and just not good enough in many areas. I had almost two decades of looking in the mirror and not liking the person looking back. I self-medicated those feeling and dived into work most of the time. I spent my 20’s and much of my 30’s not sure what I was doing with my life and not sure even where I wanted to go. When Covid hit, I had to quickly learn to become a barista so my business could be considered “essential”. At that time, we were just retail in our brick and mortar locations, and all events halted so we couldn’t have our mobile unit out. I expanded my plant-based drink menu and opened my plant-based drink shop in The Downtown Exchange in July of 2020. It’s become one of favorite spots to be at and I can truly say I LOVE all of our drinks! I went from not knowing much of anything about this field to being featured in Barista Magazine! Entertainment itself is never a smooth road. I left the industry in 2000 to dive into work and feeling like I wouldn’t be enough to “get anywhere” with it.

Without social media at that time, I still felt the backlash of bullying and many people saying you just don’t have what it takes. After a 20 years break and a lot of soul searching, I’ve dived back into the industry, consistently landing gigs this past year, and am re-inspired to pursue what was once a childhood dream. My son came in the middle of a trying time in my life. I was in a relationship that opened my eyes to domestic abuse in the verbal and emotional sense. My businesses were declining and mentally I was in a rut, constantly being put down. After separating from my boyfriend, I found out I was pregnant, and the journey began. I worked three jobs while I was pregnant with him, then opened my first shop when he was five weeks old. If there is a will, there is a way. My parents were the largest part of the amazing support team that helped me to get back onto my feet. I do believe though, if you don’t have someone like that in your life, you will if you let people in. I am consistently one to try to handle things by myself. I’ve learned that it’s okay to accept help. Now I love to be the one extending the hand to help on the other side.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
With my work, I am most proud of what I’ve created with my drinks. My drink shop in The Downtown Exchange boasts drinks that are good for you and taste GREAT! We don’t use any dairy milk in anything, it’s all oat, almond, or coconut milk. We don’t use any sugar, artificial sweeteners, flavors, or colors. Everything is all natural and organic. We sweeten things with monk fruit, agave and cinnamon. The drinks are based around superfoods. I believe that we are addicted to taste, which drives so many health issues. We’ve been able to “trick” your taste buds to where you have no idea that’s what you are drinking! Our drink shop doesn’t fall under a coffee shop (even though we serve it), a juice bar, or smoothie shop. We truly can only be described as “plant based” drinks! I’m so happy to be part of people’s health and weight loss journey. The smiles that appear on their face when I tell them there is no sugar and the entire drink is really good for you is priceless!
