Life & Work with Alyx Monahan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyx Monahan. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Ever since childhood, Alyssa “Alyx” Monahan often found themselves fascinated by the complex yet interesting nature of cats. Around their 10th birthday, they encountered a children’s book containing different cat facts from their behaviors to basic anatomy. Determined to be a good cat parent, they read the book several times until it was nearly memorized. The rest is history.

Writing and learning have played a role in their life for as long as they can remember. They journal and write lists/notes in their free time to help gather their thoughts. For a short time, Alyx was even a Creative Writer, publishing poems in literary magazines such as In Parenthesis and Kindred Republic. They learn for fun and once they gain interest in a specific topic, they become determined to learn everything they can about it.

Not too long ago, they decided to continue writing again but weren’t sure how to go about it. After doing some research on Google, they were able to find different routes that they had never considered before. It was then that an idea hit them. Between being an avid learner, a cat person, and someone who seeks comfort in writing, Alyx decided that they wanted to start a cat lifestyle blog, naming it Meowly Post.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. Doesn’t matter the form – from creative to technical writing I have always enjoyed the craft. I was a Creative Writer a couple of years back and was fortunate to have had 2 of my poems published in literary magazines within the span of a month.

If interested, here are the links to the literary magazines:

What was you like growing up?
I’ve always been inquisitive and a deep thinker. I’ve always (and still do) enjoyed learning during my leisure. Same applies to my interest in cats as I remember always wanting to befriend every cat I saw! As a child, I was fairly quiet but also pretty active and often played outside.
