Today we’d like to introduce you to Allyson Wedlick.
Hi Allyson, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2017, I was unhealthy; smoking nicotine, drinking and eating unhealthfully. I was so concerned with what others thought of me and partied too hard. Come March of that year. I embarked on a health and wellness journey that started out with good intentions until my perfectionist mindset took it too far. I developed an Eating Disorder and Hypothalamic Amenorrhea, a condition in which a woman loses her menstrual cycle due to undereating and over exercising. This is more detrimental to the body than it seems. I suffered from dry skin, hair loss, GI problems and bone loss. In 2018, I sought help and slowly began to recover. I did not become fully recovered until June of 2020. During this month, I contracted a more severe case of COVID and gave myself food freedom and stopped the dieting mindset. I went, “All In.” I was able to get my period back naturally without a pill and be free from food obsession. I healed my relationship with my body and food and couldn’t be more healthy or happy. Now I help women worldwide heal their relationship with food and their body, get their period back naturally and maintain a healthy cycle. And yes, I do all of this while also being in the fitness industry as a personal trainer and a yoga instructor.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My main struggles would have to be my perfectionist mindset and having to go against Diet Culture, which is so prominent in today’s society. I used to struggle with undereating, binge eating, and over exercising all at different times of my life. Now I can say I never have to worry about these things again and I can be healthy without ever having to diet again.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a certified personal trainer with NASM, a yoga instructor, and mindfulness-based stress reduction certified. I have my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and specialize in helping women heal their relationship with food and body image and naturally get their period back. My platform is through Instagram @anti_diet_ally.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I love connections. I will always get to know everyone in the room and take what I need and leave what I don’t. However, I feel that in every conversation and connection, there is something to be learned.
