Meet Charles Thomas of Sea Level Home Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charles Thomas.

Hi Charles, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I graduated from UCF with my mechanical engineering degree and worked as a Quality Engineer on the Seattle East Link Extension project featuring the first train to travel across a floating bridge anywhere in the world! After a couple of years, I realized the office environment wasn’t for me, so I decided to use the handyperson skillset I’d built over the last 20 years to start my own company. My partner and I returned to Florida and I started Sea Level Home Solutions here in Orlando!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been mostly smooth. Orlando has been a very supportive community which has helped alleviate my concerns about building my customer base. I did struggle to navigate Florida’s tax law and statutes early on but eventually learned the ropes.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I have been working with my hands and fixing things my whole life. I worked as a mechanic, hardware store specialist, and most recently as a Quality Engineer. I have a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UCF and am a certified Mechanical Design Professional with a CSWP certificate from Dassault Systemes Solid works.

Sea Level Home Solutions offers handyperson services with the precision of an engineer. I provide high-quality work that lasts. I also bring over 20 years of product knowledge in hot, humid Florida. Having lived here with my partner since 2006, I feel a strong connection to the Orlando community. Driving around and seeing projects I’ve completed throughout the downtown neighborhoods really makes me feel ownership here and a responsibility to my community to provide the best.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I expect people to move away from using gig apps and toward hiring individual professionals who are invested in their customers. You are not just hiring someone who is qualified to do a great job, you are hiring someone you can count on, who you can trust inside your home, who cares about solving your problem as timely and cost-effectively as possible while maintaining the highest level of quality possible – this could be a random stranger, different every time (who is often unqualified), or it could be me, your neighbor Charles with Sea Level Home Solutions!
