Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciara Smith
Hi Ciara, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always been a creative person who loves people. So when I became a manager at Nordstrom and Louis Vuitton, the fashion world came alive to me. I loved all the pretty clothing and how it made people feel better about themselves when I helped them with outfits for events, special occasions, and day to day life. After having these amazing experiences with so many women, I decided to create my own Image Consultant business so that I wasn’t limited to just one store and could be more hands-on with clients. However, when my lupus became more active, I had to adjust and turn my business into Virtual Styling, which works well given our current circumstances with Coronavirus.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Transitioning from working at well-known stores to working on my own was definitely not easy. It also became more difficult when I moved to Orlando and lost clients because they weren’t used to doing things virtually and really missed the hands-on touch of being styled.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
After having these amazing experiences with so many women, I decided to create my own Image Consultant business so that I wasn’t limited to just one store and could be more hands-on with clients. However, when my lupus became more active, I had to adjust and turn my business into Virtual Styling, which works well given our current circumstances with Coronavirus. My Styling Services include free consultations to determine the client’s needs, creating looks for your daily life or special events within any budget, personal shopping to pick up things to add to your wardrobe, and closet cleanouts where I help edit your closet to get rid of pieces that are outdated or ill-fitting. Just like there are multiple fast-food restaurants that practically have the same menu, there are many people and places offering the type of service I provide, but I bring creativity to the art of styling and I’m proud to say that I’ve turn people who hate shopping into fashion lovers.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Adaptability has been of huge importance. You need to be able to adjust and compromise with any situation. I want my client to feel comfortable but also help them to step out of their comfort zone without completely changing their identity. Also, being adaptable has helped during the pandemic as I had to be able to transition from in-person styling to being available virtually.
