Meet Ivie Claudio of Mother Bliss

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ivie Claudio.

Hi Ivie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Ivie and I am Mother Bliss Co’s shop owner and crafty hands behind it all. I live in Winter Garden, FL (yes, just right around the corner from Disney) with my best friend (aka hubs), as well as 3 very busy kiddos: Lucas, who just turned 17, Tori, now 14, and Maddox, 5. We love everything Disney and Star Wars, Ice cream, traveling, and watching movies together. My husband and I are also die-hard Dave Matthews Band Fans. It all started in elementary school… I’ve always been very independent and wanted to have my own money, even as an 8-year-old. So, I started making jewelry boxes made out of recycled cardboard, in various prints. I sold a lot of these at school, and even had some for sale at a local shop!

I have always been into paper, drawing, painting, and wrapping things, and labeling all the things. As I grew up and had to start “adulting”, I tried to keep my crafty ness alive. After my kids were born, I realized being a mom with a full-time job is hard work, and free time is very scarce! So why not turn my full-time job into the thing that have always been present in my life, right? It was then, that I bought my first Cricut machine (I am now the proud owner of 4 of them), having no idea how to even work it, or what it did. After all my friends and family kept pushing me to make all the pretty things for them too, Mother Bliss Co. had its official opening in September of 2016.

I’m a registered nurse by trade, and although the shop has now become my main gig, I still work part-time as a surgery nurse (I love helping my patients).

I love seeing my client’s ideas come to reality!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not. Being a mom, a nurse, and a small business owner is hard work. As a business of one, I have to be everything – accountant, influencer, creator, designer, photographer, inventory analyst…The lack of extra hours in the day and the fact that we need sleep also do not make this easy!

We’ve been impressed with Mother Bliss Co, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the mastermind and creator of everything you see on my shop. Some creations have come from a picture I took of a flower, then transformed into fabric that I use to sew all kinds of things! I love receiving requests from my clients because that is how my best ideas come to me. My shop is most known for my custom water-colored home ornaments and my personalized faux pumpkins. I also have a large selection of baby swaddle sets, with exclusive prints. At this point in time, I am specializing in business branding. My goal is to expand the business into a one-stop shop for all collateral material for small businesses like me. From logo creation on, the possibilities are endless!

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I have a hard time taking risks. Back during the height of the pandemic, I invested a large amount in the fabric business, and I am so glad I did because eventually, that led me into surface pattern design. I am making my own fabric designs for some of my swaddle sets.
