Meet Jonathan Croft

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Croft.

Hi Jonathan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I officially got started with photography over ten years ago. After getting my first DSLR camera (Sony, before they went mirrorless). I immediately started photography people and tending to focus more on male portraits and fashion work in the beginning. The first couple photoshoot were featured on different publications locally and internationally.

Soon after I started working with a local fashion magazine. The creative team and I were a group of creatives that found common ground it creating a body of work to express our ideas on fashion. After leaving the magazine, I continued to work with entrepreneurs, fashion brands and modeling agencies in Orlando, Miami and Los Angeles. For me, the most important part of creating and capturing a great photo is the collaboration that happens between the subject and the creative team.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Whenever you get a group of artists (Hair, Makeup, Stylists, Model, Photographer) together, you never know what the outcome will be. The number one struggle is making sure everyone works well together.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in portraiture with a focus on fashion. The evolution of my skill and the body of work over the years is what I’m most proud of. Being able to connect and communicate with who I’m working while also focused on the small details has really helped set me apart. I love the editing and post-process and have spent time as a post-process editor/retoucher for other photographers.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Creating and capturing art. I love collaborating with other artists and pushing each other’s skill level.
