Meet Jordan Ellen Alwine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Ellen Alwine.  

Jordan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was always baking with my mom when I was a little girl. I watched her bake bread and cakes for her friends at work. Over the years, I was trying to find my creative niche. I was always very artistic. I was a painter, and I used to draw a lot when I was young, I was always creating some kind of color palette. I started watching baking shows on tv which sparked my interest to bake and decorate my first cake in 2016. I knew cakes were definitely my calling after that. I started baking and decorating birthday cakes at first and for smaller events. I would practice all kinds of different styles. Once I came across wedding cakes and sugar flowers, I’ve been in love with it since, and it is what I’m truly passionate about. Never give up on your dreams, and work hard at what you love. 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No, it has not always been a smooth road. I’ve had all kinds of obstacles. I’ve had so many things go wrong in the beginning. I’ve been on grocery store runs in the middle of the night after an hour of crying, but you learn from it haha.

When I say hard work and tears, I really mean hard work and tears. 

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My business – Jordan Ellen Cakes, specializes in wedding cakes. I am known for my handcrafted sugar flowers and exquisite hand-piped royal detail. I have my own signature style, classic but modern, I love elegance and romance. I love creating realistic sugar flowers and intricate hand-piped detail. Fabrics, lace, beautiful embroidery, and especially nature inspire me the most. I love watercolor. I love creating edible art! The light you see in nature inspires the movement of colors you find on my cakes. 

What sets me apart is I do it all & I stay true to myself. I do not make trendy cakes or anything that’s trending for the likes or follows, I create what I’m truly passionate about. I create a new design for every client – I do not repeat cakes twice. Every cake is custom and 100% original for that couple. I do not copy other cakes. Cakes should always taste as good as they look. My cakes are made 100% from scratch, no shortcuts. I use REAL vanilla and high-quality ingredients. The flavor is crucial. My recipes & flavor combinations have to be perfect. My clients are very important to me; they deserve the best! 

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
“Don’t overcomplicate it. You cannot expect the perfect thing in the first attempt. Perfection takes time.“
