Meet Kenya Harris of Klasē Kandles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenya Harris.

Hi Kenya, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a suicide survivor, my heart’s desire is to provide hope, inspiration, and encouragement to people! With the second chance God has given me, I wanted whatever I chose in life to do; that inspiring would be a huge part. A few years back, my love for candles came to a quick pause. I stumbled upon all of the harmful chemicals that a lot of leading brands were using and I started making candles for myself.

Then for my family and friends. I couldn’t stop there, I wanted everyone to experience a healthier way to burn candles. I asked God to show me how I can use my gifting to make candles and live out my mission. This is how the inspiration under the candle lids and now on my wax melts came about. I include messages of hope, affirmation, or inspiration on our products. I am a firm believer that what you say and believe about yourself determines how you live your life. I want our messages to inspire and encourage individuals to be the best version of themselves.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This has not be a smooth road. Some of the challenges, in the beginning, were being/learning everything in my business… and trying to keep up! Some of the most recent struggles have been financially. The pandemic caused a lot delays.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We handcraft and hand pour all-natural soy candles and wax melts. We specialize in creating a healthy alternative to candle lovers. We are know for hand pouring natural products. What sets us apart from other candle makers are our inspirational messages under the candle lids. We are so excited how powerful our brain is! The connection between smell and memory is powerful! We are most proud knowing the message of inspiration will be brought back to your remembrance every time you smell your candle fragrance. I want the readers to know that my brand and mission is to inspire their hearts. We enjoy being out in the community at Farmer’s Markets. We offer candle-making classes, and we have an online shop!

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I would definitely advise finding a mentor to walk with you along the journey. I am a part of our local Chamber of Commerce. That option has its benefits.
