Meet Kerri Day of Flipping Fabulous

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kerri Day.

Kerri, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always had a passion for art, even since I was a child. I wanted to grow up to be an artist but never saw a way to make a living at it. Life happened, as it does, and I grew up, married, had a child of my own, and decided to go into administrative office work. In the back of my mind, I always knew I still wanted to do something creative. In 2018 my daughter got married, and I took a stab at painting some decorations and few pieces of furniture for her wedding, and the artistic bug bit me again. I thought about painting furniture and started out doing a piece here and there, just for friends and relatives at first, but I knew I was hooked and kept looking for new furniture pieces to paint. I found I had so many ideas but no time to really bring them to fruition.

Fast forward to 2020, and Covid stops the world in its tracks. I lost my full-time job, and now I had more time than I knew what to do with. I started painting everything I could get my hands on and literally could not get enough of this new “hobby.” Only now, I had so many finished pieces that I needed to get rid of (so I could paint MORE furniture) so I started trying to sell online. I even opened an Etsy shop, but there was so much competition, and I realized I needed more local exposure. It was in October 2020 that I stumbled upon Vintage Warehouse in Lakeland, where I could rent space and benefit from their established clientele, daily retail traffic, and special events, and their online advertising. Flipping Fabulous was now a full-fledged business! I spent the next year and a half traveling to Lakeland each week (which was 90 minutes away) to add new pieces to my booth. But 2022 has brought me closer to home as I am now consigning my pieces exclusively at Hometown Furniture & Decor Market in Winter Park. It’s a beautiful shop featuring quality craftmanship by talented local Florida artisans specializing in unique furniture and decor. I’m very proud and excited to see what this new venture has in store!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve made lots of mistakes along the way and I continue to learn as I go. I’ve vended at several pop-up markets and constantly scour the internet for new ideas and techniques. But I truly love what I do. I only wish it had not taken me this long to realize it. I guess the pandemic was really a blessing in disguise.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

I specialize in bringing new life to furniture and accent pieces, creating custom home decor. I’ve done many commissioned pieces and am happy to provide a custom quote on a piece someone already owns.

Alright, so before we go, can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Please visit my Instagram page @flipfabfurniture. Or email me at if you see something on my page that you like or if you would like a quote to paint a piece you already own.
