Meet Dr. Leidy Riano of Mint32 Dental

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Leidy Riano.

Hi Dr. Riano, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised in Colombia until the age of 10. My family moved to Altamonte Springs, and now I’ve called Florida home ever since. My passion to help others, as well as my interest in science and love for art, led me to pursue dentistry. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Central Florida, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary sciences with a Minor in sociology. I obtained my degree of doctor of dental surgery from Marquette University School of Dentistry. Making me the first one in my family to obtain a college degree and later a doctorates degree as well.

Since graduating dental school, I have been committed to my lifelong dental education. I have had expanded my dental education from implants to ortho and cosmetic dentistry by attending numerous continuum dental courses. I am currently a member of the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, the Central Florida District Dental Society, and the Greater Orlando Dental Society.

I love the transformative power of dentistry and the impact it can have on patients’ lives physically and emotionally. I enjoy marrying the arts and sciences in my work, all while being able to build meaningful relationships in my community.

This past June I opened the doors to Mint32 Dental, my very own dental practice in the city of Oviedo. I am also very proud to announce that not only have I accomplished a life dream, but I have also partnered with the Center of Independent Living (CIL). A local non-profit whose mission is to break down barriers for people living with disabilities right here in our community. They’ve been helping people live independently for the last 46 years, and they continue to provide life-changing work to people of all ages and disabilities. This partnership reflect the love I have always had for helping the elderly and those with disabilities in my community.

What CIL does is incredible, and it is inspiring to see that they aim to help a demographic that it’s often overlooked I am so honored to be part of this now since my mission in my community is to lift lives one smile at a time. I am committed to donating a percentage of every new patient appointment to this foundation.

I enjoy spending time with her husband and our children, Ander and Chloe. I loves to take bike rides and cook as well when I am not practicing dentistry.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I am fortunate to have two magnificent parents who have defined and shaped the person I am today. Their constant drive to achieve the seemingly unattainable brought my family to the United States in search of a better future. It was not easy to leave everything behind and be immersed in a country where the customs, language, and people were all foreign. However, one of my biggest struggles was the language barrier I had when I moved to the States. Not knowing a word of English and having non-English speaking and non-educated parents definitely made my road a bit harder and more challenging since every path I took I had to be conquered on my own at an early age. Leaving our heritage, culture, and most importantly, our family was very difficult, yet nothing hindered my goals for success.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a general dentist; I have been practicing dentistry for more than 8 years. This past June I opened the doors to Mint32 Dental, my very own dental practice in the city of Oviedo. At Mint32 Dental, we are more than just a dental office that specializes in cosmetic dentistry, implants, extractions, and much more. We are a dental office that cares by being involve with the needs of our community. We are proud to announce that we partnered with the Center of Independent Living (CIL).

What CIL does is incredible, and it is inspiring to see that they aim to help a demographic that it’s often overlooked and I am so honored to be part of this now since my mission in my community is to lift lives one smile at a time. I think it’s important to remember that there are all different smiles that make up our beautiful Central Florida Community and I hope to create more awareness and involvement from our community and other local businesses and together change people’s lives.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I am fortunate to have two magnificent parents who have defined and shaped the person I am today. They have been my number one supporter throughout my life.

Also, in this long journey call life. I’ve had the blessing to meet the love of my life and my forever supporter. My husband Erick Aristizabal who is not only my partner in life, the father of our two adorable children, but my business partner and has been there every step of the way through thin and thick of my personal and professional journey.

Professionally, I have been the most privilege woman to cross paths with two incredible men, Dr. Nickelice Brand and Dr. Luis Acosta. These two men have given me the guidance, the advice, the support, and knowledge to help me personally and professionally. They are not only my friends, my colleges but also the best mentors I could ever asked for as a dentist. Always there encouraging me while providing me guidance and advice to help me achieve my goals. I feel very blessed to have them in my life.
