Meet Leigh Anne Campbell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leigh Anne Campbell.

Hi Leigh, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I would like to think that my story is a bit unique, but during this crazy thing called Covid-19, I’m sure my story will sound very familiar. I’m an only child, Louisiana born and raised. My upbringing was that of a typical southern family until I reached high school and had the opportunity to move to Florida for the summer and work at Disney World. Living in Orlando for that summer started my love for this city. I spent two great summers working at Disney, and I moved to Orlando full time after that second summer.

For my career, I started my journey back in 2000 when I accepted a position working for The Walt Disney Company. I was a parade and show performer my first few years there, and it was so fun. I worked my way up within the company and went on to plan large special events throughout all 4 Orlando Parks. I even had the opportunity to be the Culinary Coordinator for the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. During this time, I also pursued and completed a degree in Event Management at UCF. Working for Disney was a great experience, but in 2011, I was desiring something more. After 11 years in Orlando, I packed up my things and moved to Alaska, where I became a Tour Manager for Holland America and Princess Cruise Lines. I spent the summer months guiding and teaching guests about the 49th state and its history. I traveled all over Alaska and the Yukon Territory of Canada. Living in the wilderness was such an amazing journey. I was in Alaska for three cruise seasons and returned to the lower 48 in October of 2013. I based myself in Seattle, WA and began a new job as a Convention Service Manager at the Sheraton Grand Seattle. Here, I planned large conventions for clients such as Microsoft, Starbucks and Amazon. It was my first event planning job in a convention hotel setting and was a great learning experience. But, being a southerner at heart, I missed the warmth and sun.

After two years in Seattle, I moved to Austin, TX in the summer of 2015. I took a promotion as a Senior Convention Services Manager at the Hilton Austin. What a FUN city Austin was to live in. I worked on events like SXSW and a ton of Texas Association programs. We were going into an election year, and with Austin being the state capital, there were a lot of events taking place. But my time in Texas was short-lived as I had a longing to get back to my roots in Orlando. The Ritz-Carlton had posted a Senior Event Manager position, and I went for it! And I will be forever grateful that I did. I got the job at The Ritz-Carlton and took the lead in planning all of their luxury weddings and special events. I made memories to last a lifetime in that job, and it is how/where I met my husband. Up until September 2020, I was still employed with The Ritz-Carlton, working my dream job, but Covid-19 took that away from me. Our team was eliminated due to the tragic loss of business. Once I was put on furlough, I decided to focus my time on recapping my travel experiences. While living in Alaska, I fell in love with travel. I was surrounded by co-workers who had been all over the world, and they inspired me to do the same. I started my website and Instagram page back in July 2020. I am slowly but surely growing an audience and getting people excited about traveling. It is my hope that my travel experiences will inspire people to get out and enjoy this world!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road is much harder than I thought it would be. Gaining notoriety on social media is tough. Finding “real” followers is the goal, but it takes time and patience. I have been engaging with a lot of great accounts and getting some pointers along the way. I finally feel like I have hit a stride and am on my way to social media success!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a wedding and event planner by trade, and I am launching my own luxury wedding and event design company, LC Event Collective, in April. Weddings and Special Events will always be my true passion. But when it comes to my travel website/blog and Instagram. I am publishing content that is authentic to me and attainable for everyone who wants to travel. Traveling opens your mind and heart to so many things and it is something everyone should try once.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Dedication is key – no matter the field you are in, you must be dedicated. Success does not come easy, so you must be willing to put in the work. Honesty is another big quality I keep present in all of my work. Whether you are working with a bride on room design or guiding guests through a travel experience, you must be honest with everyone you meet. You will gain trust and respect from all who encounter you if you stay honest!
