Today we’d like to introduce you to Tay Dubocq.
Hi Tay, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Since I was a young girl, I had a passion for hosting and entertaining and I knew a career in hospitality was what I needed to pursue to truly love what I was going to do in life. Following my dreams, I left Puerto Rico and started my career in Florida while attending Lynn University. And, after just two short years and the tragic events of 9/11, I moved back to Puerto Rico and finish my studies there; but, little did I know, that change actually set me up for where I am today in life – professionally and personally.
As I returned, I was presented with the opportunity of working for the renowned Caribe Hilton Hotel – a place I like to call my roots, my “real” school, the place that taught me everything about service, consistency, quality, attention to detail and hospitality. It was while I was working at the Hilton that I met my husband & now business partner, Craig. I met him and instantly fell in love, quit my dream job and made the biggest move of my life to date and moved to Washington state and started a new life.
My career shifted to different industries for quite some time, but every experience taught me something that today I treasure and look back to… ultimately, every one of those experiences gave me the knowledge and confidence to become who I am today. Ten years later, my husband and I made our way back to Florida with our dream to someday own and operate our own wedding venue. It took about four years to be fully ready to make the big move and take the biggest leap of faith together.
We were not in a rush, we wanted to truly find that hidden gem that was going to offer a magical place to couples and clients. One day, this beautiful property we had never seen before appears right in front of our eyes and we just knew it was “the one.” We moved in April of 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, and opened our doors in October. Today, we are honored to have couples trust us with their most important day of their lives and we are overjoyed to be alongside them on their journey towards their wedding day!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to success and to achieve your goals is never easy, it takes hard work and determination to get there. Every challenge and speed bump along the way has taught me something important. After arriving to Florida, I did have a couple of years where I couldn’t find the place where I belonged. I knew in my heart that I wanted to be an entrepreneur and that I enjoyed a family-owned work environment. One of my biggest struggles was working in a corporate world. I found that creativity is not always encouraged and that productivity is measured in hours rather than results; and, in the world of wedding and events – creativity, ingenuity, thinking out of the box and the flawless delivery of the client’s vision is the key to success. This is when I realized that I needed to find a place that was family-owned and that would trust me with their success. That’s when I found my second home in Deer Creek Country Club. I will be forever thankful for everything I learned and the incredible experience I had there, which ultimately lead us to venturing on our own and open our own wedding & event venue.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Cypress Creek Farmhouse is a 40-acre farm in the heart of central Florida. As you enter the property, a sense of serenity takes over. You are in awe with its beautiful natural scenery and waterfront features that offer our couples and clients a peaceful and picturesque setting for their most important day or special occasion in their lives. I believe what sets us apart is our level of hospitality. My husband and I personally take care of every client’s event and needs and ultimately, the success of their event and their experience at the farm is what we strive for.
The Farmhouse barn is designed to offer a modern-rustic feel with subtle hardwood floors, six stunning chandeliers and two custom-made barn doors. For your comfort, the barn is equipped with 15 tons of AC/Heat, all needed equipment for your event, getting ready suites, linens and more. Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I can say the “bad luck” on those corporate years of work led me to where I am today so, I guess in the end we can call it good luck? In all honesty, I feel the luckiest when I think of my husband. Craig has been my biggest supporter since the very beginning, my rock when I need strength and the guy that takes my vision and my crazy ideas and makes them happen. Without him, Cypress Creek Farmhouse wouldn’t have been possible.
