Meet Marisol Sandoval

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marisol Sandoval.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story as a Real Estate Agent begins with my oldest daughter with special needs. I had different careers in my adult life, one being a Spanish teacher at the high school my daughter was in. In the educational system, students age out at 21. Due to my daughter’s intellectual disabilities, she does not read or write and is unable to be independent of me. I contemplated what my next move should be. As a single parent at the time, I needed to make ends meet while also caring for my daughter. This led me to begin my career as a real estate agent and my daughter as my sidekick. As soon as I began working in the field, I knew this was the perfect career for me. I love to meet new people and as a Realtor, I can do just that. This career has also allowed me to meet new people, which I love. I am also able to help others. I love my job as a Realtor. Getting to know people from different places around the world has sparked a love of traveling in me which has led me to a second business as a Travel Agent- Marisol Travels.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Thankfully, I have been blessed with great mentors in the field. I started in real estate at a time in which the market was strong and I was able to learn a lot.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize as a buyer agent as well as in vacation homes. I am bi-lingual in Spanish and English, which allows me to help and connect with more people.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I have a couple of things that I wish people knew about this career before they decide to jump in. First, people should research the process of becoming a Realtor as it can be lengthy. Secondly, once one gets started, one must work hard to be seen and earn clients. Also, it can take some time for the business to take off; be patient and learn as much as you can while waiting. Also, although this career can bring financial success, it should be noted that income may not always be steady. Those wanting to start in this field should prioritize saving for a rainy day when the market may be slower. Lastly, and like anything, do it because you love it so that way passion can be your drive.
