Rising Stars: Meet Meagan Goepferich

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meagan Goepferich.

Hi Meagan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Over a decade ago, I set out to create a couponing site to help people save money. I outgrew the coupon world and moved through a few brands with a goal of helping people through different things that matched my phase of life at that point. A few years ago, I created the brand Meagan Gets Real. I have loved having the opportunity to help with encouragement, mental health tips, parenting helps, PR/Marketing advice, Florida fun, and more. My main goal is to help people live their best life and truly thrive.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been an easy road. As I worked to build my brand, I was also working to discover myself. As a newer mom, when I started my site I had to learn to balance motherhood with building a brand focused on helping others. Balance was one of my biggest struggles because I wanted to give 100% to everything in my life. The thing is, there’s no such thing as balance and there’s no such thing as giving every single thing 100%. I had to learn to set more realistic boundaries for my time so that I could be the mom and woman I wanted to be while also building a brand I could be proud of. I have been working hard to put decide what priorities mean the most to me so I could give them the time they deserve. It hasn’t always been easy but I think I’m getting better at it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
On Meagan Gets Real, I have invested a lot of time into simple parenting guides to help parents discuss some of the heavier issues we so often have to address. It has been so rewarding to offer tips and help to parents so they can feel less overwhelmed. This has meant sharing some difficult topics and equipping parents to face them more effectively.

One of my most treasured moments was when I wrote a piece on mental health in relation to suicide. The post is a very honest look at how people feel after losing someone in that way. I had a mom reach out and thank me for letting her off the hook. She blamed herself for far too long for her child’s suicide.

My full-time job away from working on the blog is working in PR. I work to connect quality influencers with brands that want to partner with digital marketers. I am actually adding more tips and tricks for influencers to my content as a way to better help people thrive in their businesses.

As a family, we put education first. When the kids were smaller, we homeschooled and now that they’re older, they both additional traditional in person learning. I am a big advocate for helping children to love learning. This means I share tips and ideas for parents from a variety of educational backgrounds to help them to help their children.

It is so rewarding to invest time into content and see that it genuinely helps to better someone’s life.

I think what sets me apart is that I am focused on finding ways to give to my followers more than I take. I want everyone who visits my site to leave better than they were when they arrived there.
