Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi, I’m Krista, the owner of Krista Lyn Photography! My photography journey started right here in Orlando, where I spent five years learning the craft alongside a talented local photographer in 2013. Eventually, my love for exploring new cities led me to Los Angeles, California where I freelanced and worked in hospitality at the Ritz Carlton and JW Marriott LA LIVE.
After moving back to Orlando, Florida in 2020, I decided it was time to blend my two passions—photography and hospitality—and launched my own company. I jumped into the local scene, connecting with photographers, venues, and taking every opportunity I could. That hustle helped me find my niche, and I’ve been gratefully booked ever since!
I serve the Central Florida area and beyond—and while I love working locally, traveling is a big passion of mine, and I can’t wait to bring that into more of my work soon.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a photography business came with its fair share of challenges—especially when it came to getting my name out there and building trust in a saturated market. It took time to connect with the local community, show up consistently, and prove that I wasn’t just passionate, but reliable and professional too. There were moments of doubt, but each challenge pushed me to grow, get creative, and stay rooted in my “why.” Every shoot, referral, and relationship became part of the bigger picture, and now I’m proud to say that consistency and community have become the foundation of my business.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a photographer specializing in weddings, events, and portraits! I’m all about candidness; the little in-between moments, the laughter, the connection. More than anything, I want people to feel confident and seen when they’re in front of my lens. It’s not just about taking beautiful photos—it’s about helping people feel good about themselves and creating memories they’ll cherish forever.
What I’m most proud of is starting my own business. It took a lot of courage and confidence to put myself out there, to feel vulnerable and do it anyway!
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think the most important quality that’s contributed to my success is my genuine care for people and my willingness to truly get to know my clients. I’ve always loved making others happy, and photography has given me a creative, meaningful way to do that. It’s about building real connections. Some of the relationships I’ve formed through this work are ones I still grateful for today, and that means everything to me!
