Hi there! My name is Karen and as a budding pickleball enthusiast in early 2023, I found myself drawn to the sport’s dynamic energy and growing community. However, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing. While the court was buzzing with excitement, the paddles seemed rather ordinary, plain carbon fiber or generic graphics. I yearned for something truly enchanting, a paddle that would spark joy and inspire confidence.
Growing up, I was captivated by the magic of fairytales and the elegance of princesses. These stories, filled with wonder and beauty, have always held a special place in my heart. Sharing this love with my daughter, Sydney, we found ourselves dreaming about the idea of bringing this enchantment to the pickleball court.
Inspired by her imagination, we embarked on a journey to create a line of paddles that would resonate with players who, like us, appreciate the finer things in life. Our talented designer, my beautiful daughter, poured her heart and soul into crafting designs that would transport players to a world of fantasy and grace.
We were fortunate to collaborate with a skilled artist who brought these designs to life with stunning detail and vibrant colors. Each paddle, a unique masterpiece, is not only visually captivating but also engineered for peak performance. Crafted with premium Toray T700 Carbon Fiber and a Honeycomb Polypropylene core, our paddles offer a perfect blend of power and control. The 14mm thickness ensures optimal performance, while the custom finishes set them apart from the competition.
To complete the royal experience, we designed exquisite Storybook boxes that are as much a part of the magic as the paddles themselves. When you open your Storybook, you’re transported back to a time of wonder and imagination.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every step has been worth it. E-commerce was completely new territory for me, so I had to dive headfirst into learning everything from sourcing and importing to social media marketing and running ads. There were a lot of lessons, a lot of late nights, and more than a few hiccups along the way. One of the biggest challenges was finding the right artist to bring our fairytale vision to life. We kissed a few frogs before we found our princess! But with persistence, passion, and a little bit of pixie dust, we’ve built something truly magical.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest advice? Don’t go it alone. Starting something new, especially a business, can feel incredibly overwhelming. There’s so much to learn all at once, and it’s easy to feel discouraged in the beginning. That’s why finding great mentors and coaches is absolutely essential. You need people you trust to guide you, especially if you’re bootstrapping and learning everything from scratch.
I also can’t emphasize enough the importance of a strong support system. I was diagnosed with a rare medical condition in the middle of building this business, and without my incredible family stepping in and supporting me every step of the way, The Pretty Pickleball Company wouldn’t be where it is today. Surround yourself with people who believe in you, even when you’re struggling to believe in yourself. That, combined with great mentors, makes all the difference.
