Inspiring Conversations with Michael Blasco of Orlando Food Trucks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Blasco.

Michael, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We started in 2011 at what we thought would be a small church event. In 14 years it’s morphed into a business that drives millions of dollars to local small businesses while making it easier for large organizations to utilize local food trucks.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
With an industry as young as ours, it feels like every 2-3 years we are reinventing ourselves. While we certainly aren’t a startup any longer, sometimes the changes and adjustments make it feel that way. The average food truck runs for 2-3 years and we’ve been in business for 14 years, so as you can imagine we still have a few originals around but, a revolving team of vendors keeps us on our toes.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Orlando Food Trucks?
We make it easy to book local food trucks and deliver unique experiences with food. Our core business is really catering for large groups with food trucks. One of things we do that not everyone realizes at first glance that we do are branding activations, rewrapping vehicles and doing experiential marketing. Another service that really parlays into the rest of what we do is disaster catering, we’re able to be fast and nimble and respond quickly to ensure workers in the field that our helping put our communities back together can get a hot meal and away from the dreaded cold meal in a box.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Probably the breadth of food and reach we have, with over 100 food truck partners, we can make things happen quickly and with customizations of menus. We can service the whole state of Florida and further when needed. Our core service area is the I-4 corridor from end to end but, we’ll head to the Florida Keys if you insist.

Pricing:

  • Our entree catering starts at $29 a meal with a minimum of 50 people.
  • Our dessert catering starts at $9 per person with a minimum of 100 people.
