Today we’d like to introduce you to Christy Mask.
Hi Christy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Christy Mask, I’m 29 years old and I own Molly Pops on Main. In high school and post-graduation, I worked as an employee in a retail boutique and always knew that my dream was to open my own clothing boutique one day. During the past 10 years working at a boutique, I learned a lot about business operation, money management, marketing strategies and customer relationships. I learned about the fun aspects, the hard parts, and gained knowledge and experience until I felt ready to open my own boutique.
I opened Molly Pops on Main in May 2020 and I couldn’t be any happier to have made my dreams come true by owning my own clothing boutique!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I had been working on my storefront and gathering everything I needed for my own boutique in late 2019, and then put in my notice at my old job in January 2020. I wanted the spring time to give total focus to my new business. I had no idea that my opening date would fall right in a national pandemic! COVID pushed back my original opening date a little bit and made me nervous that I shouldn’t have quit my old job. But, Molly Pops opened in May and I consider myself lucky for such a smooth road and the success I have had opening my business. I’m very lucky to have all of my customers, friends and family support during this hard time for everybody.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The main mission at Molly Pops is to try to be as unique as we can with our product line – we don’t want to offer the same clothing, jewelry or gifts that you can find everywhere.
We specialize in clothing and jewelry but we also carry other amazing giftable lines such as Harper + Ari, Spongelle Body Buffers, Dixie Grace Candle’s, Capri Blue candles which are all wonderful gifts for yourself or a loved one. We strive to be a boutique that you and your friends want to come spend your afternoon. Molly Pops is the only boutique in our town that sells KanCan denim.
We also try not to have clothing, jewelry or giftable items that you can find everywhere, but try to be as unique as we can with our product which is Molly Pop’s main mission. We are on Facebook at @MollyPopsOnMain and Instagram at @mponmain. You can purchase items through our social media accounts and have the option to pick up in store or ship your purchase!
What are your plans for the future?
Our plan for the future at Molly Pops on Main is to continue to grow and bring you the cutest and latest fashion trends.
We are currently working on a website for online purchases for all of our out-of-town customers.
