Exploring Life & Business with Cathryn Valor of Sweet Surrender Yoga & Holistic Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cathryn Valor.

Hi Cathryn , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello,

My journey began many years ago when I took my first yoga class. I was looking for something that embraced mind/body/soul and I found it with yoga. After two years from that day, I completed my yoga teacher training and have been teaching yoga for ten years now.

During that time, I also completed my degree in Holistic Health Practices to round out my wellness business goals. I have helped many with stress/anxiety management, gut health, whole-body rebalancing and more. I have produced YouTube videos on yoga and meditation. I wrote two yoga teacher trainings that are available online.

My book, Meditation & Positive Energy; Holistic Wellness to a Better You! was written to help people with negative thoughts and how to turn them around. The book is available on Amazon, Etsy, B&N as well as my website.

I am the proud owner of my own yoga studio in Oviedo after many years of searching for the right space. It is more than a yoga studio, we have classes in Tai Chi, meditation, workshops on health and wellness, jewelry making classes, cake decorating, HOA meetings, seminars and more. We will expand the studio to offer spa wellness services in the near future!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a challenge due to the economy, the Covid era, an injury and finding the right place after teaching at other locations that either remodeled or closed down. The journey has been rough, but my dedicated students followed me through it all to my new studio.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Sweet Surrender Yoga & Holistic Wellness?
I started out teaching yoga and then earned my degree in Holistic wellness after working 23 years at a Fortune 500 company. I wanted to leave behind the corporate ladder for something that resonated with my wellness journey for myself and to help others.

Yoga is my “go to” and it is what I am known for with colleagues and students. My business has been in practice for over 5 years. What sets me apart from others is my ability to listen to my students and know what they need or want from their practice. What issues are they having – stiff joints? Sore muscles? Anxiety at work or home? Health issues? I listen to each one of my students and/or clients to help them master their issues. I check in with my students/clients as well.

I’m proud to have my business name on the sign tower outside the building. This has been monumental for me, and I cried the day I saw it!

I want my reader to know that I care about your health, and I want to make a difference with holistic wellness. Natural options are making a huge impact in the world today as western medicines are posing a negative reaction in the body. They can work together sometimes but eating the right foods, exercise, positive thinking and taking the right supplements are key to overall good health.

I also make yoga bracelets and will be making natural lip balm in the coming months!

Who else deserves credit in your story?
The SBDC and SCORE businesses have also helped me with information, seminars, meetings, feedback and much more. My family, my husband, students, colleagues as well as the support of my friends have been helpful in maintaining my goals.

They have in many ways, promoted my business, spread the word to friends, wellness practitioners about who I am and what I do. We have done workshops and wellness collaborations together to help one another succeed.
